What is the best free arcade script on the market right now? What is the best paid as well :). I am going to start a few arcades but have one burning question:

How do you make yours stand out from others if you all have the same games?

The best free script is probably AVarcade http://www.avscripts.net/avarcade/
Thearcadescript is pretty good too, but has no members login area or anything.

To make your arcade stand out, you need a unique design, your own game descriptions and good seo work done. ;)

Anybody had success advertising their arcade? What are the best places to do that. I am using AdEngage, AdToll, and FunKlicks, but I want some more options (P.S. I hate AdBrite). Also If you have at least 500 UV per day and 30% North America and UK traffic Please PM me if you have some banner spots open for me to purchase. I prefer 100x100 spots. I am broke until mid next month though. Also don't list your AdToll, AdEngage, AdBrite sales pages. I look there all the time.

Have to agree with you on this. I've setup an Article site and it didn't take long to break-even. On the Arcade side I can see it'll take a lot of hard work to make it break-even.

Paying for advertising an arcade is a tough one becuase what you get paid back is so little.

Now I guess could be a good time to let everyone know the new updates at my new.......well after Christmas profit and traffic went down and I'm a little upset because it didn't could all of the way back again.

Hey guys. Anyone know where I can get free game packs ? or paid ?

And about the advertising issue, then the best would be viral marketing. You need to offer something more than just games.

Make contests on your site. Because I allow my users to compete and win prizes I have more than 3000 uniques a month. :) and I launched my game site 2-3 months ago

The net is saturated with game sites unfortunately - the best thing that I can recommend is just keep plugging away and hope you'll find your particular niche of the market.

I have just set up Democracy Arcade . It is a Digg site. You can submit your sites homepage or game pages. I suggest you read the "About Democracy Arcade" section on the top of the right sidebar to under stand how it works and so you know the terminology use on the site. Democade links the the pages submitted using the actual URL and doesn't have a nofollow tag. So you will get a backlink for submitting games. So signup and submit away.

The site is not nearly done though. I would actually say it is less than 5% complete. The site as is works but I will be developing it over the next several months with more features a custom design and logo. There will also be a script you can use to embed the vote/submit button to your game pages. That can still be done with a social bookmark button like the flurl and other sites have. I will post when I have something for interested people to use.

Woah alot of game sites :p I started mine start of February. Not tonnes of traffic but enough to make me want to keep going with it. Not really a money churner either but im more in it for the experience then anything. Currently with two link exchanges. I definitely monitor the impressions/Clicks ratio. As far as i can tell it seems alright. For sure i may have had some fake clicks (Esp when i can see they stayed for 1 - 2 seconds) but for the most part i think its ok.

I would def say a important part is social bookmarking. People love little addicting flash games. For sure ill be sponsoring a game soon. Just gotta get enough money together.

o btw www. peoplesarcade.com <-- Runs on Av Arcade with a few other little bits added in here and there.

I have the addthis.com button on all my game pages and their stats say I get 15-30 bookmarks on different social bookmarking site per day. But when I goto the site and search my site nothing comes up. It is really disappointing.

Also I got a kick out of your sites name. My new arcade digg site's tag line is "The peoples arcade". lol. The link is posted above and I am about to add it to my sig now.

Some weeks ago I created a forum, who's purpose was to be an arena where game developers and game arcades could promote themselves. Game dev's could post there games, and arcade sites could promote their own sites.

Lots of people said it was a very good idea, and wished me well. One of those people was "bscdesign.com".

So I have to admit I'm somewhat surprised to see a new site from "bscdesign.com" which is just a few days old, and seems to be offering exactly the same service/function as www.flashgamefinder.com. Even though the mechanism is different (a digg approach) the end result would be the same, "You can submit your sites homepage or game pages".

I guess on one hand I'm pleased because it proves that the idea I had was a good one, but on the other hand a bit dissapointed.

But it's cool, I wish your site well "bscdesign", and may the best site win :)

I hate that it seems that way, but I actually had this idea a few months ago. I will PM you the link to my original discussion thread when TalkArcades.com is back up. I thought I would have to program the site myself so I held off. Just a few days ago found out about pligg.com and set it up right away.

The site is still only about 5% done as said in my post. It will have an arcade integrated and a completely modded pligg script. There are other things I am working out too but it won't be complete for several months because it will be kind of expensive and I don't make much.

The ideas are a little different though IMO. Yours is a collection of developers and arcade owners sharing info and recourses (From what I see). Mine is really just for gamers although game site owners will be/have been posting games on their site. Its goal is to find what gamers around the world enjoy and then list them in the order of their global popularity.

I would love to do a partnership-like traffic trade with you. I would put a banner with your logo linking to your site on mine if you would return the favor. PM me if you are at all interested in this.

EDIT: Here is the thread about my idea that was posted in December. http://www.talkarcades.com/webmastering/2145-thinking-starting-arcade-like-digg.html

Kinda feel the same i guess for social bookmarking... But... well im gonna let the cat out of the bag here. But games like bloons.... Not necessarily Bloons but games like it. Like little arcade games. Even if you submit them to stumbleupon yourself etc they go real well.

Hahha! :p ill bookmark your site then.
