Cost of Outsourcing an Employee

I have a small Internet venture and am thinking about adding my first employee so I can save myself time. I basically need someone to do basic, time-consuming jobs like link building and directory submission.

I know many people choose to outsource this type of work to countries like India or China where the work can be done for much less. If I wanted to hire an employee in a place like India, how much would it cost per hour? Good English would be nice, but isn't necessarily a requirement. The person would need to have a computer with Internet connection.

It depends what you're talking about having them. Usually I think you pay based on productivity or a flat rate to get updates or whatever done, hourly is so hard to keep track of when it's remote.

I planned on outsourcing some work at one point to a guy in India and I was making a great deal on it. In the end though, the initial cost of setting it all up turned me away for now. However, past the initial cost, it is great.

What exactly are the initial costs? I know I would have to spend some time training someone, but is there anything else?

I'm really not sure what initial costs he's referring to. I've used outsourcing a little before, and it's really not hard to write up a quick doc on what you need them to do. Sometimes finding ways to pay them can be your biggest challenge ;)
