I check archive.org and I notice DP growth is very fast, What did he do to gain so many registered member so fast? even today this forum gain more than 100 new member. I think the owner for this forum probably was a teacher or student who gave the forum address to every class attend. What do you think he done to grow so fast?
In lest than two month DP got over 600 member and over 3,000 in about 6 month and about 20,000 in a year....Thats fast.
Good promotion. Also, there were no big webmaster forums before DP, so it pretty much became the player in the field such as Google did to the search industry.
Are you serious? Its all about momentum. Once 1000 people were using it, then theres 1000x more chances for word of mouth or personal recommendations to occur. It grows exponentially, not linearly.
Maybe because webmasters is a popular thing, lots of them, lots of people looking to learn. And forums are like money and business anyway, its always easier to grow when you got something there of a decent size already.
thats all about hard work the more time you spent in promotion the more better result you will get... and hardwork is the only secret of Success
There was little competition at that time. Also, Shawn is really good at whatever he does. Kudos to him!
The reason is simply because shawn is the master of the internet world. Its his secret that he will never share with us.
As far as I know DP was one of the first forums dedicated to webmasters, and this is the main reason according to me !
I have question for you, I didnt want to start a new thread so I get a infraction again...every thread I start I get an infraction... what is Thread Hijacking? I got an infraction for that.
To be honest, it was one of the last... Ones that were around before Digital Point include: v7n SEO Chat SitePoint Cre8asite Geek Talk High Rankings Webmaster-Talk Abakus WebhostingTalk Website Publisher Web Workshop SEO Guy WebmasterWorld Jim's World Search Guild I'm pretty sure all those were around first... (I could be wrong, but going off bookmarks). Digital Point was started as a support forum for existing users... everything beyond that just happened on it's own.
