    Hi All,

I did A/B testing on one of my sites.

    I tested a links unit vs 200 * 200 ads unit for a week.

    Here are some stats

    1) links unit --- Clicks 213 .... Earnings $18.17
    2) 200 * 200 ads unit --- Clicks 32 ... Earnings $9.14

Simple calculation shows that clicks received by 1) are ~7 times than 2) but revenue of 1) is only twice of 2).

So if we go by just the earnings, you can see that links unit is clearly the winner but on second note I also see that the huge no of clicks involved are taking visitors out from my site. Also it appears that links unit is getting smart priced.

So what do you people think , which option I should go for OR should I wait for some more time?

    Any advice appreciated.

From my limited experience with Adsense, I think link units generally have a lower CPC than contextual ads. With that being said, I don't know if I would jump to the conclusion that your ads are being smart priced. If you are in fact getting smart priced, you need to work on increasing your CTR.

good for you to post your experiment. link units work well with very few sites. glad to see you are doing better with links than ad units.

whether to go with the link unit or not really depends. based on this data, yes. but not sure how your ad unit was placed, whether it was blended in or not. if the ad unit was belnded in, then i would say go ahead with the link unit.

    Good Work..
Whenever I use link units in my sites/blogs, eCPM fall down by 50%. So, I just removed them.

yes the ad units were very much blended in my sites and are placed on top left of my site(left bar)...but still confusion is there ...i get more moolah from link units but at a cost of nearly 10-12 times the clicks which i get on 200*200 ad unit.

I think, had i got those many clicks on 200*200 revenue would have been much better.
