Lots of people don't know that Obama is connected to the Nation of Islam What good is it that Obama was born in the US and in his formative years raised in a radical country.
This is a little interesting tidbit: Barack Obama alongside Senator John MCcain is descended from Scottish Royalty. Both trace their ancestry to Isabell, the illegitimate daughter of William I of Scotland. Barack ain't black. He's Scottish! --- Also read what Obama himself had to say about his upbringing: Obama writes that he "was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents, as detached from religion, yet "in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I have ever known." He describes his Kenyan father as "raised a Muslim," but a "confirmed atheist" by the time his parents met, and his Indonesian stepfather as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful." --- Obama was not raised in a Muslim household or a Christian household but a non-religious household. Personally I see that as a very good thing. I guess it depends on your view of religion
I regret I opened the thread in another browser, and see Guerilla is up to his usual. I do take it personally when lies are used to smear, myself or others. I take it personally when someone preaching "individual choice" unleashes a relentless cataract of scorn on the American people, who simply chose something other than this member's candidate, or his views. To "hypocrisy" and John Birch Society Conspiracy Fearist" add "lies." My views on user fees were previously made clear (they are reprinted, in part, in post 189 of this thread again), as Guerilla knows. My intent in starting the thread Guerilla just can't seem to "dig up" now was to get others' views - as Guerilla also knows: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=6142856&postcount=1 It wasn't for a lack of "veracity" or "stomach". It was a desire to hear what others have to say, but then, Guerilla knows this. As usual he is hopeful that his attempts to slimily mislead will be taken at face value, that people won't take a look into his smear. And he does it as a matter of course. For instance, elsewhere in this thread, Guerilla said: Which is a lie, and, as usual, he is hopeful that by using the emotion-laden Bircher language - "Orwellian" (read: COMMIE!!), the lie will be bought, prima facie. What Earl actually said was, I think, quite reasonable: At least as I read this, it isn't a guarantee, but it's a worthy thing to do, in the real world; "hopefully," requiring good stewardship. I can't know, of course, earl's views on government. But I share his statement above - government isn't a boogieman. It can do good things, in civil society. If I "leave and come back" to this forum, it is because I find myself torn between two polarities: on the one hand, enjoying the learning process, and wanting to engage in things that are important to us all; on the other, tiring of dealing with the kinds of bald lies and games promulgated by folks like Guerilla. The polarity is fed by a love for the people I share this bit of land with, informed, in part, by my willingness, as a young man, to put my life on the line, as a vet; love, and its unfortunate antipode, disgust, when people smear another based on a tissue of lies. Whether from the likes of Bogart and others attempting the smear that comprise the (repeated) lies that are the subject of this thread, or from conspiracy fearists such as Guerilla, a John Birch Society supporter who sees a commie boogieman everywhere outside his narrowly drawn worldview, it's still a smear, grossly unjust, and grossly exclusive in separating out "American" from "Not-American." Guerilla, you once wrote this to me: You would do well to take a look in the mirror yourself.
Speaking of hypocrisy and lies, the ignore list is set at the database level, not the cookie level. You couldn't resist, plain and simple. Wow, the personal attacks are thick now! How can anyone who has so much life experience, so much character, and so much more brains learn anything from the mere peons in this forum? Well, you got me on this one. I was wrong. I could revise my opinion, but I'll leave the character assassination and insults to you. You still have not said one factual or substantive thing about Obama. Nothing. Which doesn't surprise me. You're much more anxious to attack me than to discuss your candidate in any sort of informative or meaningful way.
This thread is really raising more questions than it is answering about Obama. I didn't know that Obama is connected to the Nation of Islam.
The thread is getting a bit explosive, maybe we can concentrate on what is at hand which is Obama and the Muslim mystery. Everyone is free and entitled to his/her own opinion and differences does exist in a large forum as this.
Don't know what to tell you, Guerilla - I had you on ignore, but did it on FF. On opening up MSN, your blather was there. Perhaps the mods can answer this, if they'd care to, since you are calling me a liar here, as well. And since what I saw was a lie, I answered it, with post #205. And as usual, you are hopeful that by your simply not acknowledging being caught, it will be forgotten. As I said, the possibility of gentlemanly discourse was cleaved when I discovered this, and far too much otherwise that is dishonest, is, your pastiche notwithstanding, your game. And I have answered every substantive question regarding Obama; that you just don't like the answers given isn't surprising.
It has been dealt with, quite a bit, Wisdom - please see from page 1 on. The thread moved off this conspiracy theory to another direction once Guerilla entered with his "socialism" accusation, and lies from there.
May I suggest that whatever differences till this stage seemed to have been resolved? Either by using the ignore button or otherwise. Those that are interested can continue Obama and the Muslim mystery discussions from here. Permit me northpointaiki and guerilla, both of you are learnt men of great intelligence, a thread is a thread is a thread. Some posts does have differences that are fundamental in nature. Let that lapse, I would really love to see more of your postings either in agreement or disagreement. But lets take this thread as a lesson and stop when we have stated our points especially if the thread has the potential to be explosive.
Why stop fighting brethren. Don't ignore each other, destroy and demolish each other's opinions and stature. The children are watching, don't label yourself as pacifist quitters. *waits for more explosions*
On the ignore thing, I think it does have its uses. I can't speak for him, but would imagine Guerilla doesn't need the aggravation, and neither do I. I did come back to this thread in FF, and damn me if the ignore function wasn't working. I then realized I had logged off and was coming to the forum, essentially, as a visitor. D'oh! This explains the "other browser" quandary.
I'm done with this thread, but have to leave a couple comments based on what I wrote before. 1. My problem with socialism isn't that some people want to be socialists. Knock yourselves out. Join a commune. Share everything. Read Marx to your children at night. No problem. Just don't include me in a socialist system. I want to be a free, independent man. I want to give of my own volition, not have things confiscated by force or coercion. I want to be able to work, and to be left alone. So if you're interested in being a socialist, and you find other socialists who feel the same way, great. Secede, or help me secede. Youhave every right to be a socialist, just as I have every right not to be. 2. I wasn't kidding about people knowing nothing substantive about Obama. The only exception here may be Zibblu. Everyone else seems to have this pie in the sky view of the great man of change, not understanding that it's rhetoric, and as far as I can tell based on nothing. 3. Definitely have no problem if Obama is a Muslim. This is America remember, freedom of religion? In fact, I think the Islamic banking system is way better than the farce we have now. But really, thinking that all Muslims want to destroy America is as assinine as to say that all Christians want to go on a Crusade, or all Jews support a Zionist policy in Israel. It's simply not true. We'll never get anywhere, if we continue to judge people by their skin, popularity, religion etc. Judge them by their actions and intentions. Treat them as individuals.
