Hi All, Just built my first Build a Niche Store - and while I realize it is specifically geared towards ebay ads, I wonder if anyone has added the following: 1) Link Exchange 2) Rotating Banner Ads and most importantly 3) The ability to execute php when adding php in the text box.... I would like to add popshops products to content pages but unable to add php (only html) which can be a real pain in way of maintenance every time a product becomes unavailable... Any hardcore BANS users out there have some tips and tricks for a newbie?
I am by no means a coding guru. The text box will not work. With that said, I was able to modify the template to call php files. I did this based on the the query for each page. Thus each page could have a different file called. If you just wanted the same file called then you just use a simple include in the template. This will call that file for every page. You should be able to get rotating banners and link exchange scripts working this way also.
I set up a SmartZone in CJ and use that to rotate banners. That said I cannot sell squat with banners. Is use Popshops to add additional content pages...with html. I add one or two content pages a week and the use social bookmarking. I through in a few article a month and maybe a press release. From this the SE traffic starts to build. I just cannot seem to get any conversion on banners though. Good Luck
Great idea with the Smartzone. Now, if you could create a smartzone for CJ and Linkshare that problem would be solved! Really would like to know more about php as opposed to html or heaven forbit javascript. This should be available in version 3? Anyone have an ETA?
Man, I thought it was just me. The CJ banners just don't convert for me. My best conversions come from PopShops ads. I guess a product ad with a picture, price, and description is more appealing.
for me, text links always work better. that said, you do need to test different copies to find out the winner too !
CJ banners are a waste of space. I've yet to see any reasonable conversion out of them. I'll stay away thank you. I do some link exchange on some of my BANS sites. It works ok, but I typically prefer one-way links for my sites.
You can insert PHP code right into the header.php or footer.php files and run them from there, like in the sidebar, header, etc.
