    Hi,
i hear many people saying: currently I own a notebook with crap Vista and I will downgrade to XP because Vista sucks.
i think vista a really in force successor to XP , it runs smooth as butter on computers with the right hardware, it is a really good OS. :)

Haven't had a chance to try it myself. Don't really see a point in it, beyond DX 10... Which.. Ironically is supposed to make Vista the way to go for games in the future. (although I suspect by the time everyone gives up making games for DX 9; vista will be long dead. No major game company is going to cut themselves off from all the XP and lower users to focus on an elite few.)

So I'll wait for better, or stick with XP, or maybe even switch to ubunto or something. I've been playing with various linux installs in VMware.

I might actually just switch over to linux one day and emulate windows for playing games. I own an XP cd, so it's not like I'm worried about legalities.

P.S. If people do get forced to require DX 10, I'll just wait for someone to hack it to make it reverse compatable, if they haven't already.

Adobe everything is slow as sin.. Luckily the only thing I used was acrobat reader, which I swapped out for foxit. Mmmm, pdf program that loads in about 2 seconds, even with 100% cpu load. (I use BOINC, aren't I nice?).

Oh, and what's more? Foxit is tiny. No more 40-60 meg.. or whatever pdf program.

Everything's much faster for me. You just need a lot of ram.

I have plenty of ram.. And two proccessors... It still takes forever to load. It's not a lack of resources on my end, it's adobe being bloated pure and simple.

Yup running adobe as well as a few other large programs always lag on Vista. And the latest vista Update chocked my laptop. Took like 2 days to untangle the nasty vista update that was not really benefecial. They said security update and I laughed cause it kept me from getting onto my laptop. Some security update,

I wish I had vista, I used it in my aunt's house and it was awesome I didn't see any problems with it. I think the only people that do have problems with vista are people that upgraded xp to vista because my aunt's computer is a new HP that came with vista it cost her 300 dollars came with 2 gb ram and 160 memory and it was really fast. No problems are all.

I liked it when I used my laptop for work because I had WI-FI and it had great security and ran smooth. Since I now work from home, I only have dial-up here and Vista is so slow that I have problems using the Internet at all. I most likely would love it if we could get broadband or high speed here at home.

Nah, you don't need alot of RAM, I ran Vista (all throughout BETA) with 512 RDRam, 1.6 Pentium with a lowly NVidia GForce FX5200. An old and antiquated system yes, but Vista ran smooth for me.

    I like it alot.

It has been a nightmare to develop in, and games are twice as slow.

i fixed up my bros pc using new and some old parts.
    here are the specs

    2.6ghz Pentium D
    2gb drr 400
    120gb HDD
    PCI-E MSI 8600GT 256 DDR 3 *OC

installed vista on it as well as xp... now vista runs smooth and all but there is an issue with the cpu noise being too loud .
when using vista the CPU becomes so loud an annoying when playing TF2 but on xp playing TF2 it makes much less noise... so for now my bro will use xp. the nice new look of Vista isn't worth trurning ur room into a RUNWAY!!
