Hello, I was experimenting with a PPC adword campaign and some click bank products. I spent $15 and made about $40 in the first day. So I went back to optimize my ad. I made some changes and looked back today, and impressions have not changed, clicks, or how much I spent. 1. My question is, how often do the adwords stats update? I'd love to have updates at least once an hour, but it doesnt seem to move, except all at once after the days done. 2. Am I doing something wrong? 3. Whats the difference between your ad showing up in page 1-3. vs 4+? Is there a sweet spot, best bang for buck? 4. For this type of thing, marketing clickbank products, or other affiliate marketing attempts, should I disable content network and stick with search, since it will be more targeted, or should I include both? Thanks for any advice.
2. One day isn't really enough to tell whether your account is working. Whether it is or it isn't, you should still be looking to optimise it further. You may be doing something wrong, but how can we tell? Your bids are almost certainly not optimal, and neither are your adverts. Nobody's good enough to get these things perfect first time. 3. Every campaign, every Adgroup, and every keyword has its own sweet-spot. The Quality Scores will vary, as will the clickthrough rate, conversion rate and average order value (and even the margin on sales, in most cases). The same is true for your competitors. By increasing bids, you'll get more conversions, but a smaller margin on each. The only way to tell the amount you have to pay per click and the clickthrough rate in each position is to test your adverts in different positions. 4. The content network works for some campaigns. It doesn't work for some campaigns. The only way to know is to test it. I'd suggest that if you're new to Adwords, you may want to optimise the search network before trying the content network, but that's up to you...
Adwords takes a lot of learning to begin with. The best idea is to do some reading about how to go about adwords and how to avoid the pitfalls and invest in a good book about it. I can tell you that the price paid for a good book will be well rewarded. If you need more info check out my last link below. The book in my link below gives a taste of whats in it and a great guarantee. It's A bit pricey at around $90.00 but as an investment it is well worth it.
I wrote a free guide, which you're welcome to read: http://www.epiphanysolutions.co.uk/google-adwords/
I've read this, good stuff. I could only skim it, but I will be looking over it again. So I have been attempting to optimize my test ADGroup last night. The things I did were: remove keywords with lots of impressions but no clicks at all, refined the text in the ad (trying some negative press), adjusted CPM. So from the results this morning, it looks like my CTR went up quite a bit, but there was 0 conversions. Does this mean I should attempt to optimize my landing page? I have used Adwords a lot in the past, but its been a long time, so I am basically starting over. I am new however to the process of using PPC to drive affiliate sales. Any tips would be invaluable. Any suggestions related to putting good text in your ad, would be great to. I seem to have a good score because my ad was not showing for the CPC I entered, and then I got it to show after modifying my ad. Any advice again would be great. Thanks.
