Every single day I am spending about 2 hours posting on forums and blogs just to get some visitors. I am wondering how people are getting around 5k daily when I can barely get over 100, and that's when I have to work to get them. What can you suggest? This is for TalkPrice.net
How long has your site been around? Sounds like you're doing some of the right things, however I'm in the same boat you are. It seems that there is no silver bullet to get you consistent high traffic. So far, my experience has suggested to me that it has a lot to do with perserverance. You just need to keep plugging away. Hopefully, over time, these efforts will begin to resonate and the word will begin to spread.
Just a few tips (since you asked) 1. make your signature more of a benefit than an ad (Why would we want to click on your sig just to be informed) 2. What is the reader getting out of visiting your blog.. (for me personally, there was nothing of interest)....... Plus, your top story is 5 day old news. People don't just want to go to a site to read "stuff". They want to know what they are going to get before they read. I don't want to make this post any longer so I hope you get the idea. Good luck
Lowers my mood a bit. Just joking . But this is extremely useful, and will definitely be implemented tomorrow. Thanks a bunch! And as for the luck, it seems that I'll need it.
Think of the websites that your potential customers are frequenting. Most 5K/day websites get them from years of building stong websites with lots of content and get free traffic from the search engines.
you won't reach thousand if you still new in this biz. traffic just don't come cheap or easy. if you are good people will find you. if not then just think that you are not good enough. so what should you do? what else? be better than anyone else in your niche.
Try other ways of generating traffic - some that you have to pay for like buying links etc... You could also post an image on AddAnImage.com
My website is already 4 days old. I'm same as you, trying to find ways too! But I believe it is a long way, not giving up yet
jake! well don't lose hope..keep trying.. i started my website this monday, and i start from only one hit and that's mine..but now the number of users are increasing day by day.. you will too get the unique hits..just be focused and kepp trying
I would take out that graphic at the top right of your post with the number of comments. Once you get a decent amount of comments per post then it might be useful but showing that none of your posts have any comments doesn't look good. You also should change your title. Talkprice.net isn't exactly a great title and I can't seem to figure out what your website is about. Perhaps changing your title to "Talk Price - some key words here," would give your site some direction.
keep plugging away at it and start doing some link building and you will see some traffic roll in. Try and keep your posts up to date as well so if you catch an interesting news story write about it right away. Digg Submissions seem to bring in some traffic for me as well not 5k but a few here and there just to get people to notice my blog
I read your first post here: http://talkprice.net/2008/02/10/hello-world/ The post is dated 2/10/2008. That was only 12 days ago! I'd say you are doing ok for a new blog. You need to spend lots of time building links. Submit to web/article directories, submit to social bookmarking, and spend lots of time commenting on other blogs. Then your traffic will increase. Write unique content and these people will come back. You have a nice template and posts appear good. Focus on backlinks and your site will prosper!
I agree you should "keep plugging" away at getting visitors, but...... If you have 100 people a day looking at your site and NONE of them leave a comment.... that means something...... It probably means if you get 1,000's of a visitors a day, the same thing will happen.. (That is not meant to be harsh, just realistic). I also noticed the big 0 comments pic. That was a big turnoff. Even if you have to make 1 comment on each of your posts, that is at least a start. ****Tip****** Comment a lot on other people's blogs. (With great comments)...... Surely someone will reply. Once you start getting comments, maybe some of your traffic will start sticking around.
Its not easy getting visitors to your site. But maybe you can focus more on creating more content and value with your blog so that by that time you will have enough information where you will not only have visitors, but repeat visitors. Getting 5k a day will take some time to get to. And it really depends on your niche. Good luck with your blog, Love2Write
