I just checked, all three of my sites are back up... Now if they will stay up long enough for me to transfer them else where...
Sorry but you are full of shit. I've been with them for at least 4 years. The very few times I had issues they provided good technical support for the most part. This kind of outage is rare for them. You people are funny. One major outage and the sky is falling. If your business relies on this you really should go get business class web hosting and pay the high fees. I remember my days of cable broadband helpdesk. People would call us freaked because they were trying run their business on the regular broadband. They'd get bent out of shape when I pointed out they were was pretty stupid and really should go with business class service if the connection was mission critical as they always said it was.
You never worked helpdesk have you? It's one of those jobs where the people talk crazy shit and make uunrelaitic demands. There are plenty of diplomatic ways of pointing out to someone what they are doing is stupid. In a job like that it's a skill you learn real quick. And yes using a residential broadband line to run your business and expecting business class uptime actually is stupid.
Well it seems its all back online but n doubt they should take of no downtime, and give a explanation to why they were down for so long.
I don't know, have I? I know that people can have unrealistic demands however in the context of the above it had a different meaning. No hard feelings Enjoy your site being up.
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /usr/local/apache/vhosts/support.globat.com/htdocs/sc/includes/ObjectCache.php on line 409 (From support.globat.com) Maybe someone should tell them about that
Either you are the luckiest guy on the planet or work for Globat! I have dozens of trouble tickets over the last month and half. The dozens of folks on the site can't be all wrong. Read the overall ratings on just about any true rating site. they suck plain and simple.
My sights are back up and running. Globat's main sight is up again too. No explanation on the main page. I went to to CEO's blog link at top-right and it is still down. :^)
Your sites must not be on the wonderful "Falkland" server. You know the new high speed IBM XT 8088 server they just bought at a garage sale.
I have three sites hosted with Globat and have been using them for 3.5 years or so now with basically no problems. I think the worst issue I ever had was one time the email on my domains stopped working for a few hours. Their tech support has been generally responsive, and competent, at least as much as I tend to expect from help desk support (as a computer tech for 13 years, the only time I ever seem to need to call for tech support generally results in me having to speak to a senior engineer to get anything productive out of it since I tend to know a lot more than the person on the phone does) Overall, I've had a much better experience with them than I have with previous hosts. But I do have to echo the comments of a lot of others here when I say I can't *stand* their "opt-out or we'll bill you" emails. Especially considering you fill out a survey when you decline the offer which includes an "I don't like opt-out offers" option, which I chose every time, yet they keep sending them. This is the second outage my sites have had in the space of about three days (that I know of) and I am definitely going to move my main site to a business-class hosting provider as soon as I can afford to do so. My site is just starting to make a profit, and the timing of this outage, just when I was in the process of heavily promoting it and getting backlinks, did not make me happy. It's been a stressful 14 hours. Well, at least my sites are back up, although I'll be keeping a close eye on them...
If anybody still is in doubt of Globat's crapy service, here's a link to a customer review. http://www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/Globat That speaks for itself.... I will switch asap
Here's an email I got from a tech called Tom: Norman, We had a complete failure of our Cisco 6509 switch which controls the traffic in and out of our data center. This device has built-in redundancy plus we had spare parts. However, the failure was complete and the device had to be replaced. We lost time trying to get the existing 6509 back online and we had to wait several hours for delivery of the new device before we could start brining the systems back online. Our technicians worked throughout the night to minimize the impact and get the systems back online. This failure affected our own website, phone system and email so we couldn’t communicate with customers. We had just one toll free number working that went directly to one of our support centers, but we were unable to contact them to tell them the status. First of all we apologize greatly and we understand that this is completely unacceptable. We will learn from this experience and we have already begun work on new emergency procedures. We will communicate directly with all customers in the future as our plans unfold and get implemented. Right now we have our hands full cleaning up from this mess and we ask for your patience and understanding. You will hear from us again about this incident in the very near future. Regards, Tom
You do realize that for the most part most peopel who bother to post reviews tend to be those who were unhappy? It's not a big surprise to see lots of negative reviews. Whne I did helpdesk for cable broadband we would get loads of pissed off customers talking crazy shit. If I didn't knwo any better I would have assumed our system was crap. The opposite was actually true. Anyway my personal exp with Globat has been good for the most part but then I don't rely on my websites to make money. They are a hobby of mine. If I ran a serious money making website I would not choose a cheap hosting company. I'd go with a real business class hosting company.
Globat Customers, Yes, Globat.com suffered a major network outage this morning Pacific Time. It is still ongoing. We had a partial failure of our Cisco 6509 switch last night but this device has redundant capabilities. In bringing it back online we had a complete failure. We were able to reroute DNS to get email back earlier. A new 6509 is now delivered and installed. Technicians are trying to bring it up now. ETA for a complete fix is still an hour or two away. Our phone system, except for one toll-free number and internal email is affected too. This message is being posted by one of our technical support agents who would normally be answering phones. Naturally, we are very sorry for this. This device has built in redundancy and we had backup cards available but this failure was a complete failure of the device. Naturally, we are very sorry for this. We will have further communication on our website when we are back online and via email to all customers. As of 3:00 PM all function has been restored. Globat.com Customer Service
Globat is down for awhile but one of their technical support agent told me that it will be up sometime today. I just wish that they are doing some upgrades on their system for now, I do understand that it is really hard to maintain a server but I hope this will taken good care cause we are losing a lot of money here. I will still stay with them cause this is just the first time that they are down for long hours. But as one of their team assured me that this will be fixed within the day... Let us all be positive...
