For those experienced with adbrite (I've yet to use it). I was curious, is the amount you are paid per click comparable? Other notable differences? I will be running it on a high volume poker site that is less focused on affiliate signups and more focused on high quality repeat long staying traffic.....hence adbrite. Thoughts?
Adbrite is generally much lower PPC, but there's no point comparing it to Adsense if you're running a poker site. There's no way to know what kind of PPC you could get with Adsense if they allowed gambling sites, but it would probably be much higher than Adbrite. Still, I think you've got the right idea in using Adbrite on a gambling site that is not targeted towards new user signups.
The site will be highly media based with a lot of return visitors so I figured impression or click based revenue was my best bet, of course there will be affiliate banners and potential there but I'm more focused on building a big user base than that one time signup that was so popular with poker affiliates in years past.
Adbrite can be nice if you get a lot of traffic. I have switched bak and forth and make more with adsense. If you can't use adsense def get adbrite on there. You should try to find some affiliates selling poker chips, tables etc and make some loot there as well.
All of my affiliates are in order on that end, I have everything covered from real books, ebooks, chips, tables, dvds, coaching, bonuses, you name it. Adbrite unless I'm wrong seems to be the only option to monetize the high number of media views, is there anything else I should consider?
I still go for adsense. Though I did not try it yet but some of adbrite user says they have less income compare to adsense.
I'd imagine that Adbrite would be better than Adsense if you're looking to let visitors bid on an ad position - didnt Adsense get rid of that feature?
My proxy sites are using 2 main advertisers, Adsense on the main site and Adbrite on the proxified page. The results, I earn $4-$6 daily from Adsense and $4-$5 daily from Adbrite. I love them both!
And is it reasonable to assume that you get more traffic and theoritically more clicks on the main page?
No. Usually the main page is where everyone lands before they use the proxy and there is your first impression on the site. After the main index page every single impression on a proxy is going to be on the framed page. On my proxies the number of impressions for the main index page is usually about 1/10 the impressions on the proxified pages.
Well, I would suggest you to NOT making your main page too crowded. Carefully find out the best place for your ads but still have the site simple. Dont just put all the banners of topsites, listing site etc..periodically check these site whether they give you traffic or not. Remove those which are not perform.
Adbrite was allowed on proxified pages until recently. Adsense was never allowed on proxified pages. I have a feeling Adbrite is changing it's policies as they get bigger and more "finicky". Proxy sites are always on the bottom of everyone's desirability list so it is no shock to see Adbrite turning it's nose up at proxies now.
