When you can't get any answers from them directly you look elsewhere and unfortunately (or maybe not) this seems to be the only place with info.
I think the thing that always bugged me the most about globat is their "special deal" countdown. When I first came to the site I saw the countdown, and thought I should hurry and get the good price before it's gone. Time ran out, then there was another countdown with the same deal. There is always a countdown!! Has been for the last 4 years that I know of. I mean come on, at put a little time inbetween special deals, or they aren't really special deals, just tricks to get people to hurry and join without taking the time to research the company. It's just too obvious.
I host 3 websites on Globat, 1 I can move but 2 other domains are registered by Globat. Does anybody know, ff Globat will die, I will lose those domains? Those sites giving my family bujet's 90% ( What can I do? (Sorry for my English)
I've been with Globat a few years and not only have I never experienced an outage lasting longer than a few minutes, I've always had very responsive support. And I have never received updates without my being ask and I have never ever received any automatic charges to my account. If you are being billed automatically for something, all you have to do is go to billing preferences in your admin console and turn that off.
I am new to Globat.com and not a great experience. What is complete web address to access the email? I also called the 866 number for support, and I was told, "Do not worry, the site will be up in 24 hours." I think I have had enough of Globat.
Is there more than one way to get to globat email? I go to www.globat.com and log in there. Is there another way? I still can't get to www.globat.com!
I've been with Globat for at least 5 or 6 years now and I think I've experienced down times only twice before. So, I can say that I'm happy with the service they've given me. That's not to say I'm happy about this outage - this is the longest I've ever experienced. I agree with the complaints about their offers. I was charged for something I didn't agree to. I put a stop on the payment through my credit card company. They should NEVER do an automatic authorization without your specific permission. An opt out sentence at the bottom of an email is very easy to miss. To me it's misleading at best - it's theft at worst. I've called and emailed, but I never receive a response about this issue. Anyway, I hope we're back soon. Thanks for this forum.
tillymcnulty -goto webmail.yourdomain.com Waiting for my sites. I spoke with a contact there and they said their core network switch backplane died. They're replacing it with all new parts and that will restore websites, control panels and anything else that is down. All my email is up now. --M
They will charge your cc if you do not opt out of the automatic upgrade. We had received a free account from them and decided to use it for a backup just in case. We received about 1 email every month for a automatic upgrade, and they did try and charge my CC for the upgrade.. luckily I used a prepaid Credit Card when I signed up with them and there was no money on it.. So beware, they do charge your account, if you do not opt out. Then you have to go around in circles just to cancel your account. Anyways just be careful. and if any one needs hosting look at our specials www.iwhic.com
As long as you have'nt signed up with them or they can sell you something all sounds wonderfull! That's not when it counts! By ther way that should be illigal in the US as well, as it is in many other country's like for example Canada!
My fears came with the timing of this. Yesterday I inquired about my refund because of being double billed and plus I contemplated on moving to another host. To make this worst I just received a major supplier for my online business. I'll give it some time plus I've been with Globat.com atleast 6 years with few complaints. I think the online chat is pretty good. But I must get pass this and get my refund back b4 I make any conclusions.
Make sure you give 'em 15 days notice or you'll be stuck for another x years! We're in til 2010, kicking and screaming all the way...
Confirmed. DNS servers seem to be up. ns1.dnsjunction.com and ns2 were not pingable before and now they are. It will also resolve my domain names now where it didn't before. Looks like progress is being made.
