This may be a problem with their DNS server NS1.DNSJUNCTION.COM and NS2.DNSJUNCTION.COM. Both of these are not pingable. And they will not resolve my domain name to an IP address (nslookup). My guess is they have had a catastrophic failure of both DNS servers OR hackers with some type of BOTnet have taken them down with a dDOS attack.

Given how shady the company has been acting over the last few months (upgrading accounts without user consent) my guess is they finally pissed off the wrong person.

Yes, I went to google and typed "globat down" and this thread was
on the top of the list. I am glad I found this forum.

Typical globat down times have not been this bad.

    Maybe the earthquake in Nevada?
    The spy satellite shootdown?
Obama's wiping up the floor with Clinton rallies??

    Who knows?

I know a girl who knows a guy that knows the founder of Globat.
I'm trying to inform him about this forum and to post SOMETHING to explain what's going on.

While we're waiting...... If I leave Globat, can I take my domain name with me or am I stuck with them forever?

i've been with globat for about 2 years. just waiting for my time to run out so i can get away from their crappy service.

the only thing i have ever liked about globat is speeds i get downloading files hosted by them. that's the only thing they are good at.

Really, I should have known better to rely on the cheapest hosting firm. This is bad news and just hoping that this is not a reoccurring problem as I just signed up within last few months. I must admit though, prior to this outage, I have been receiving numerous spam mail with "special deals" which worried me...especially the recent one in which they were to automatically upgrade my account and charge my CC! WTF? To me that is unscrupulous business practices and definetely sent up red flags.

Any suggestions as to "best" hosting firms?

Actually I switched to Globat from DreamHost and was very satisfied albeit the rates weren't best and that's why the switch.

    yup, "globat down" on google...

Had some FTP problems recently. Last night everything seemed fine with my site. But not this morning.
Usually when my site is down, www globat com still works fine. But this time everything globat is down.
It kind of worries me. Did they just take our money from this new awesome upgrade and run? And yes, those automatic upgrades are very annoying. So is the tech support that you are usually smarter than.

I've used globat for a few years now, actually considering switching now.

Heh, Heh good luck. He is probably driving in his Ferrari heading out
to the golf course. Most guys at that level don't give a shit.
He is set for life as we stuggle in the vast morass of crappy low
paid jobs that feed Globat and the rich masters. I do video production
as well and could do a documentary with some of the behind the scenes
stuff that goes on in big corporations. of course I would be sued and thrown
under the bus but that is how it works. Globat will come back up, they will act
like nothing happened and will send you fifty more e-mails for your automatic upgrade of $49.95. Maybe the AG of CA should look into this??

Don't they offer a 99.9 uptime and if this is lower (as in this case) what compensations are there ?

Did you already have a domain name and registrar before going with Globat? If so, not a problem you just have to shell out more $$. I don't know the answer if you received a free domain name and allowed globat to be the registrar (are they an accredited registrar)....maybe a contractual thingy that if you continue to allow Globat to host they will provide name for free? I would imagine though it shouldn't be a problem to switch hosting firms either way...anyone know for sure?

Anyone get an answer from Globat tech support? If it weren't for this forum thread, I wouldn't have any clue what the problem is... Thanks a lot, Globat.

That number is NOT listed in Globat's Whois but it IS listed in a phishing scam site !

Come on, "this guy's phone"! If it were really Globat, you'd give a name.

It's amazing to me that on a site where people are honestly trying to get help because their businesses are shut down (including mine) that others are attempting to take advantage.

Those badmouthing Globat are also taking advantage, like the one offering "refugee" hosting services.

As far as Globat is concerned, I've been with them a long time and never been down like this and never have I not been able to reach their support team in THE US !! Their support staff is NOT located in the Phillipeans. Just another poster trying to take advantage.

    Sickening.

It's not looking good - for a site to be down so long something major must have happened.

I had some serious problems last year with these people, though all seemed sorted by a guy called Tom Cox (Head of some dept). The chat support is absolutely useless and pointless. You will be better off asking your gran for support!

    I have some emails you may wish to try, only the one failed for me but no response yet. 'mreno@globat.com'; 'bizdev@globat.com'; 'support@globat.com'; 'prdept@globat.com.''tcox@globat.com';

I think they hook you in with the price, market you to death, then offer an awful service. Anyone think of any ideas to get the message to the top of the SE's? They may pay attention then. This forum seems to work.

I have been with Globat since last August.
Since then my site has been down once for 3 days, once for over a week , that was last month and now again....
I have never gotten any propper anwers to questions, nobody apologizes for the downtime or explains what happens. The last time I never got a reply to any of my questions either.
They only work for you when they can sell you something, after that you are on your own.
Sadly I got suckered into a 2 year extention of my contract (That'll teach me!!), but even though I won't be able to get my money back or get out of this contract ,I will leave anyway. I had enough!
Most of us don't have web sites just because we don't know what to do with time. We want to do business and with such an unreliable server and crapy customer service that's not possible.
I'm thinking of switching to lunarpages. Would that be a good idea??
I have been to customer review pages and they have a very good record.

If you think of switching don't use Ipower!!!!! I have been with them as well and they suck too. Last time I had to deal with them I was on hold for 2,in words two!!!! hours!!!!
