Do you go, have you gone?

What is best, 2 year degree, 4 year degree, 8 year, 12 year?

    None at all?

    Is it worth the money?

I'd say a 4 year degree is enough but having a collage diploma or going to collage does not ensure you are going to be successful.

In the united states a lot of companies won't even talk to you if you don't have a college education

I think formal education is great, as long as you can find someone else to pay for it. If you're really motivated to learn, you can study on your own for free. Of course, you might not make the same kind of money without the degree, no matter what you learned on your own. I think certificate programs and shorter programs for self-taught students will be more important in the future...probably the best use of time and money toward education.

well it all depends on passion and what you want to be.

As for me, education (or to gain what i want) is really important because I want to help people, and synthesize affordable drugs (abiding Green Chemistry) and offer free/cheap medication to those who cant afford/judged upon.

A Bachelors is good enough, 4 year degree. Of course it doesn't determine your success, but it's a FACT College Grads get the better jobs and are in higher demand.

Also if you want to travel the world over and work around the world, you better get a degree... ;)

In today's world, A Bachelors is minimum and must. Don't relate it proportionally with earning in real life, but it does give the much needed attitude towards life and work later on.

Yes that true what Jay said, well my advice to you is just get the degree and then you don't have to necessarily do what you are required too. Take some risks etc. If all doesn't go too well you still have your college degree.

Of course Education is vital in our life but " If you don't have a good education then you have to use your brain..."

If you want to earn money then education is not important as you know many people earning handsome amount of money without a good education.. But thats not mean its not important.

    How important is College?

    Do you want to:

    > be like 'everyone else?'
    > accept the reality that really good 'normal jobs' will be almost impossible to find?
    > face brutal competition (after college) for jobs which require over-qualified people and then leave you bored to death?
    > learn what most (many) countries teach in High School?

If you answered 'Yes' to any of those, then you might find college important.
BTW, Bill Gates never finished college. :)

If your going to be working on my brain in the future then i think its important, otherwise i dont see it as neccessary, i know people with 20 grand debt and nothing to show for it, they dont even do a job related to what they studied for.

I see much wasted money and time.

One of the biggest reasons to go to college is:

Have fun, if your parents can afford to pay for it!
