That meta tag is deprecated by google. To "increase" your PR, just get more quality backlinks.

Ditto on building relevant (quality) backlinks - but you've got to concentrate on updating your site with quality content too - you want to write content that's so cool other people will naturally link to your site...

Depending on your niche make sure that the backlinks you get are on sites in the same niche.

    Good luck!

    Cheers, p.

Content has nothing to do with increasing PageRank. It does however play a huge role in GETTING those links since it's the content that other site owners will want to link to.

(Off-topic: nice avatar, casper! )

that meta tag isn't really significant. i think it is ignored by most SE's. i use to have those on my pages but took them off.

You're right. It is ignored. Search engine spiders will crawl your site when they feel like it, not when you tell them to. The more often you update the site (or your users do it for you), the more likely it is you'll enjoy a high crawl rate.

Google constantly updates its PageRank information, though what we see is usually about 3-4 months old. Given that we had a toolbar update a couple months ago, March/April would be a logical time to expect the next "update".

As I said earlier pipsbank, Google CONSTANTLY updates their PageRank information. We just don't see it for a few months, and even then we just get an average of the previous update cycle's data, rather than the real time data Google collects that most people here would kill to get.
