I have an offer for a link exchange with a PR5 blog. The blog looks decent, but the problem is it already has too many links in the blogroll - about 30 links. Is it OK if I get a link from such blog? Can't this harm my site, as the blog looks like a link farm? However, of course I'm doing 3-way link exchanges only, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Those links don't really do you much good in terms of SEO oomph. But, it also shouldn't hurt. A single site generally isn't considered a link farm, that's a collection of sites that all interlink to boost the PR of a target site. What you're better off getting are in-context links from pages that cover a topic similar to your niche. Those will boost your standings in Google more than a simple blogroll link. Unless you're just going for PR to be able to sell links for a higher price, of course. Jay
OK, thanks for your reply. So if they won't hurt, no problem. And what about a link from a related website, but from the "links" page of that site and there already are like 20 links. Neither this can hurt my site?
No, I'm not building links to get traffic from them. I'm building links in order to get my sites ranked "higher" in search engines.
30 blogroll links is too much IMO but if he's updating his blog regularly with good content and is a active one then I guess it will be okay and will not be called as linkfarm. Atleast, the link will not hurt.
this is a good way to make your site higher in search engines, I dont think so it will harm your site .
As I said earlier, a far better way to do this is to get in-context links in the text of pages, not blogroll or link page links. Those do little for your search engine rankings, and only affect them in quantity. But only a few good quality in-context links will boost your rankings more. But the others don't hurt. Jay
