change content in existing file

I would like to add new article to my website. that article should replace previous existing article. What do you think is more SEO:
1. delete existing article from existing file and put new article in that same file with existing title
or:
2. make new file with new title and put it in the same place where previous file was

 

Make a new web page and leave the old one how it is, why delete content?

 

i thought about replacing content in existing file because all the internal links that are pointing to it will now point to the new one, so if i leave it as it is, and make new file for new content, the old one will be left without any internal link pointing to it. and soon i will be replacing a lot of other articles on my website, so if i follow suggested pattern there will be a lot of files "in the air" with no incoming internal links and navigation structure will get messy. can that have any negative seo impact?

 

if it is a new content why you have to replace the existing article?

 

it has the exactly same specific subject as the existing one. but much better elaborated

 

so just update the existing article.
