I plan to start a website which sells clothes, shoes, and other accessories. I will need to take pictures of my inventory and cannot decide which digital camera to buy. I have a very limited budget. Do you think 7Mega Pixils will do? Here are two cameras I have been looking at. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Cameras 1. Canon PowerShot A570 2. Nikon Coolpix L11
Yes, 7 MP camera should be enough to make pics of the product, some sites still using the old 3.2 MP cameras to shoot their products. To compare and find the best digital camera, go to http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/ or http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/digital-cameras/
I'd reccommend the Canon Rebel series, you could prolly get a slightly old model that's high MP for cheap. My sister got one for less than 700$ and let me tell you, you cannot take a bad picture on the "auto" mode, I mean it's fantastic. I'm not into photography like the rest of my family, but if I got a camera I wouldn't buy anything unless it was a Canon rebel. Serisouly. As for your choices, I don't want to sound harsh, but in my digital photography class they demanded we use Canon Powershot A series because it was the perfect balance between price and value, Nikon is a toy. think lego. Canon Powershot A series is a good choice for a personal camera, but you want rebel for anything professional, trust me, I've seen a lot of both.
Anything above 4 megapixels (or even 3!) will be fine for 72 dpi web images - 7 megapixels is EASILY enough. You don't need a 'professional' camera for taking product photos that are destined for the web. I've got a cheap little 5MP Nikon L10 (that I use on my RC planes), and I'm very very happy with it - but for product shots, I think you can probably find something better (than the L11) for around the same price. Even if you have to go for a lower MP, for taking product shots I suggest you get a camera with more manual controls than the little point and shoot Nikons. I'm a big fan of the cheap 'manual' Fujis. Even my old 3.1MP S5000 takes excellent shots. I've got a Canon 300D/Digital Rebel and a Fuji S9500, but the cheap little S5000 still has a place in my camera bag. Have a look for them (or the 6MP S7000) on eBay, you should be able to get one insanely cheap these days.
