The host who I was hosted with, decided to "close". All of my sites time out. I lost all of my files (lots, lots and lots) lost all of my database (lots, lots and lots). No support contact, and i also lost all of my money!
If you have never taken back-up, just forget your data. If they havent format servers yet, try to somehow contact with them, and request your data. Sorry to say, but it seems that you wont be able to get back anything. Just dont work with cheap companies
They posted a four day notice on their site, but they didn't send emails, they just assumed we would check their site. God im pissed. I don't want a lawsuit though, I think the guy closed cuzz he oversold.
I once lost a great site which can't be fully recovered or re-created. Learn to always back up your work. Keep folders on your computer in a sub-directory called 'live sites'. It's a hassle to make copies of all the files and databases, but worth the trouble.
Bummer. But thanks for reminding me to do an offsite backup of my sites this evening. Yeah man. For cheap hosts, I'd say go with one that's pretty well known.
Probably they just didn't want to answer the replies if they sent this email. After all they are going to close no matter what..
Who was the host? i backup every single day, but threads like this make me want to backup twice a day, 4 days notice is pretty poor, a few weeks minimum should of been in place for people to get sorted with new hosts.
Thanks for the sympathy. I'm seriously so mad, because, now I can't get the script to work on my new host :'(
I can understand your anger, ive lost work before, not online or host related but its a nightmare, very frustrating.
Yea, well 2nd host didnt work. screw it, site is up for sale: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=6615430
Always backup everything. You can try using the Google cache or the waybackmachine to recover some of your content
I wish I had an answer for you. I used to have a small site that I paid someone to update. She let the domain expire nd all that hard work was gone. I feel for you. So sorry!
