Did you know there are nearly 50 million Moroccan’s worldwide? After 9 months we finally have become the first and at this moment only official registrar in Morocco for .MA domains.

In October we have signed our contract with ANRT which is ICANN accredited register for .MA domains.

After their validation process which has resulted, two weeks ago, in a permission.
We are also happy to announce that today also Maroc Telecom has signed the contract between us.

Individual, and companies are welcome to register .MA domain names with DOTMAROC.

Experts predict that 75 percent of all Moroccan households will be wired for broadband Internet by the year 2010. Morocco will have the largest Internet economy in Africa.

Don't miss your chance to connect with this Mediterranean market. Get your .MA now!

    Register a .MA Domain Now!

Internic.ma is a domain hi-jacker, Hoost Communication from Canada just look at this website: http://marketing.guillon.com/

They are not the register nor the technical maintainer for .MA domains.

The only accredit register for .MA domains is ANRT. http://www.iana.org/root-whois/ma.htm

For the history of .MA domains (still young) see:
    http://www.iana.org/reports/ma-report-24jul2006.html
    and
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.ma

In short, in July 2006 was decided to make .ma domains avaible for commercial use.

A month later ResellersHosting.org (Security Database BV, The Netherlands) started their intrest in .MA domains, after finding out that nothing was regulated, they started a daughter company in Morocco and invested in infrastructure locally (which is an obligation to become registrar).

At the end of January they were authorized by the register ANRT and in february they have signed the contract with Maroc Telecom which is the technical maintainer at this moment.

There will be a small change that Ste DotMaroc.Ma SARL (Tetouan, Morocco) will become the next registrar and then the pricing will be better, but before 2010 there is no expectation of this nor for EPP provision system. Everything is done manually.

They are hosted at Resellershosting.org in the Netherlands at the "mother" company.

The paypal owner is located in the Netherlands, and you are right about restrictions.

No thanks, it's only normal to provide information when requested.

On request you can get a French word list with their meaning in English.
A couple months ago only 1000 of all French words (120.000) were registered.

At this moment 23.000 .MA second level domains exicst, almost 2% of them are registered through Ste DotMaroc.MA SARL.

    .MA has intresting markets:
    Primary Morocco it self offcourse.

International for companies that are targeting or going to target Morocco.

France, the second language is French, and in Business and on universities only French is used. France biggest business partner of Morocco

Spain, after France, Spain is the second business partner of Morocco, in the North of Morocco, Spain is more spoken then French.

United States of America, Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the USA as country. And have a good understanding between them There is also a free trade agreement between the US and Morocco.

The state of Massachusetts in the USA, uses the MA for short description.

Japan the phonetics spoken MA has the meaning of universe, without boundaries etc..

And offcourse the countries that allready doing business with Morocco:
    Export countries: Frankrijk 21.4%, Spanje 20.5%, Verenigd Koninkrijk 4.9%, Italië 6.3%, Duitsland 5.9%, India 5%, Verenigde Staten 5% (2006)

    Import countries: Frankrijk 17.4%, Spanje 13.4%, Saoedi-Arabië 6.9%, China 6.8%, Italië 6.3%, Duitsland 5.9% (2006)

Some background information about future economics of Morocco:

While Europe is happy with a yearly economic growth of 1 or 2% the Moroccan economy had the last 5 years a average growth of 7% making it the one of the top ten emerging market in the world, after countries like China, India, Turkey, Mexico and Brasil.

In 2010 Morocco will become a part of the internal European market and there will freedom of "goods" (no import/export taxes anymore). The economic growth will become even greater.

Because of the fact that from North Morocco you can deliver goods within 24 hours over land towards any European country allot of companies allready started to built their plants in North Morocco, such as Nissan/Renault.
Allready allot of callcentres from Telefonica, French Telecom and Internetcompanies are in Morocco because of their second language French and Spanish. At this moment the minimal wage is 200 EURO per month, while new East European countries like Poland allready reaches 600 EURO per month, so the expectation is that more multinational companies will move their production plants to Morocco. Also other companies that at this moment are manufactoring their goods in China consider Morocco, because it is not much expensivier to produce their and the goods can reach customers within 24 hours after production, while over sea from China it takes between 3 and 4 weeks.

Another issue are the rich Arabic Oil producing countries, they for see the end of oil production and for years they like visiting Morocco because of their liberal and modest Islam culture with no repression. For the last ten years they have invested hundreds of billions in Morocco, to be able to make a good profit in the future, without risking their investment, as with their current investments in USD.

As you can see we did allot off background research before deciding to become an investor our self in Morocco and start working to our objectives.

It took us 9 months the reach the first mile-stone (becoming registrar) and by this enabling a international "Land-rush" on .Ma domains, without the concern about the legal ownership. Up to know only through non-regulated (illegal) ways people purchased .MA domains for allot of money without that they or the party that had sold it have the domain on their name or was authorized to
    sell the domain.

We considered to purchase all Moroccan companies that have conducted their business in this way, to be able to "legalize" the domains for their international customers, but we found allot of legal liability in their legacy.

So current .Ma owners should go to www.nic.ma and check if they are the domainholder (Titulair) then those domains can be transferred (needs some paper work for signatures).

If they have purchased domains through a company like Hoost communications (internic.ma) then they may try to request them to change the domainholder, but we have heard several times that they do not reply on emails. Those domains will be collected and then we are going to sue the Moroccan party that has sold the domains to Hoost communications and that way "recover" the domains for the right full owner.

With the above in mind we think that at this moment there is no more interesting cc/TLD with allot of investment opportunities.

.MA has interesting markets: primarily Morocco itself of course.

Internationally for companies targeting or planning to target
    Morocco:

France: the second language of Morocco is French, and in Business and in universities only French is used. France is Morocco’s largest business partner.

After France, Spain is Morocco’s second largest business partner. In North Morocco, Spanish is spoken more frequently than French.

United States of America: Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the USA. The two countries have a good understanding between them. There is also a free trade agreement between the US and Morocco.

    Other interesting uses of .MA:

The state of Massachusetts in the USA, uses MA as an abbreviation.

In Japan the phonetically spoken MA means ‘universe’, ‘without
    boundaries’ etc..

And finally, other countries trading with Morocco:

Export countries: France 21.4%, Spain 20.5%, United Kingdom
    4.9%, Italie 6.3%, Germany 5.9%, India 5%, USA 5% (2006)

    Import countries: France 17.4%, Spain 13.4%, Saoedi-Arabië 6.9%,
    China 6.8%, Italië 6.3%, Germany 5.9% (2006)

Some background information about Morocco’s future economics:

In 2010 Morocco will become a part of the internal European market and there will freedom of trade and an end to import/export taxes. The economic growth will therefore have the potential to be even greater.

From North Morocco goods can be delivered within 24 hours overland, to any European country. Because of this, many companies have begun to base their manufacturing plants in North Morocco. An example of this is Nissan/Renault.

Because Morocco’s second language is French, with Spanish also spoken, many call centres such as Telefonica, French Telecom and other internet companies are operating in Morocco.

The minimal wage in Morocco at present is 200 EURO per month. This compares favourably with new East European countries like Poland, where the minimum wage has reached 600 EURO per month. The expectation, therefore, is that more multinational companies will
move their production plants to Morocco. Other companies manufacturing in China will consider relocating to Morocco, to take advantage of lower wage costs and speed of delivery. From China, delivery by sea can take between 3 and 4 weeks.

Another important issue to note is the involvement of the rich Arabic oil producing countries. They are anticipating the end of oil production. Along with this they enjoy visiting Morocco because of the liberal and modest Islam culture, with no repression, which exists there. Over the last ten years they have invested hundreds of billions in Morocco, anticipating good profit in the future, without risking their investment, as with their current investments in USD.

Until recently, .MA domain names could only be purchased through non-regulated (illegal) methods. This meant that the purchaser was unaware who the legal owner of the domain was and if the seller was authorized to sell the domain. These domains sometimes changed hands for a great deal of money, with the purchaser having no protection from fraud.

We considered purchasing all Moroccan companies who have conducted
business in this way, in order to "legalize" the domains for
their international customers. Unfortunately we found much legal liability in their legacy.

So current .Ma owners should go to www.nic.ma and check if they are the domainholder (Titulair). If so, those domains can be transferred. This process will need some paper work for signatures.
