Uh, that was an example I used about finding an unexploited niche. Would sticking with cat food be easier to understand?

"My cat's breath smells like cat food."

OK, that e-Bay site is the lamest thing I have ever seen. I'm sure that something like that is NOT the missing link.

At the very least, the thread took a humorous turn. I think a lot of AdSense publishers are going to be very happy this month with so many people clicking on context ads in hopes that they will land on one of your top secret sites.

I would have to think that the odds of that actually happening would have to be astronomical.

Damn. One of my theories did involve bidding on celebrity names. That's probably not going to work. I supposed I should go get some sleep so I'm not zombie-dad when my three kids wake up tomorrow.

Presidents Day = Banker Holiday WOOHOO!!!!

I can't sleep! Anyway, I will never know whether I am dead on so there's really no sense in discussing this. Also, maybe you can clarify what you mean by the term "funnel" because I've seen almost every type of affiliate landing page there is. Other than what I described already, the only "unique" technique you could be using is giving something away for free and THEN offering them a ringtone. Maybe I'm getting a little too creative here but I'm sure what you're doing isn't as much of a secret as you claim it is. Your niches were probably just well chosen. Maybe I should take your advice and keep all my ideas to myself because I may actually give you a few ideas that you never thought of.

    Guys,

I believe the little step is simply something that makes the connection between cat food and ringtone. A process that makes it more logical for a customer to go from wanting to buy catfood to wanting to buy a ringtone.

Stop trying to find it and start experimenting. You may find the holy grail.

I've got my eggs spread in clickbank (aff and publisher), my own site and this ringtone stuff and the one thing I learned from it is that there is no point trying to sell anything to your customer if he doesn't want to buy. Make sure your customer wants to buy and you are half way there!

Greg, just so you know, I'm friends with aj and have talked to him about this. I know what he's doing, and you're not even close. Stop claiming that you know what he's doing or that if he's not doing what you think he's doing, then he can only be doing one other thing, because compared to the extent of his entire technique (keywords, ads, LP's, content), you're not even close and he is 100% telling the truth. I will also say that even if you did know exactly what he's doing, 90% of the success lies in the niches and keywords that you select - not the method of how you promote them.

Like medaa said - stop guessing this and that and poking him here in this thread. If you think something might work, try it. Just because aj isn't doing it doesn't mean that it won't work. And like you said, you might want to stop throwing random ideas out there, because one of them might just be brilliant...and you could regret mentioning it.

My god this thread is still going on! Why do you guys insist on pounding away on AJ with questions? He is never going to directly tell you what he is doing. But he has clearly given out enough information is these 19 pages that if you just thought about it you could figure it out.

The only way I can see that he could spell it out to you more would be to show you his landing page, and thats not going to happen. Re-Read over the posts.. think about it.. its not something magical.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are merely brainstorming with AJ and he has agreed.

Nothing is more motivating than actually SEEING someone achieve success. It makes all the late nights, the experimenting, the tweaking, the spending countless hours on the computer, the daydreams about leaving the 'day job' and spending more time at home with the kids, the occasional argument with the wife about whether or not we have gone insane, etc. all worthwhile.

If AJ gets tired of it, I suppose he will close the thread. Otherwise, feel free to chime in with something constructive.

Well said. I've launched about a dozen campaigns since this thread re-inspired me. It's hard to say whether they will work or not but it HAS made me think about things in a whole new way.

The trick now is to figure out how to get from "how to shave your head with a cheese grater while chewing on tinfoil - CLICK HERE" to "download this ringtone now!"

The only question is, what topic are people SO rabid about that they've just got to have the ringtone to make their lives complete...and how to get them to a page with that offer on it.

Ever seen that "win a $100 gift card" when you make a online purchase? Its usually from ePinions or BizRate... The retailer brought you to the site, you bought an item, and some how they convinced you to take a survey with a different site?! hmmm. Think about it. There are tons of sites that brought you in to do one thing and you ended up doing something else. Learn from them, copy them, figure out why that works, and what niches you can try.

And I'm more then happy to chime in, I like discussing this stuff with you guys. I want to hear some of you guys come back in a week or a month and say "hey, I got something going!" -- It just gets a bit aggravating when the thread goes from discussion to people trying to crack my own campaigns - which I think is pretty sad and disrespectful given the hours and hours I've put in here to help out.

Yes - these work very well with zip and email submits, you just need to be careful because a lot of the advertisers are somewhat shady and will cut you off with no notice.

No doubt that's true AJ. Your PM box must be stuffed. When I do figure it out, I don't know that I will even announce it...lol.

I'm on the 'accelerated' route simply because I just don't HAVE 12 to 16 hrs a day to research & test.

I'm able to get on the computer either A) at work (bad idea), B) after 9pm when my 3 girls are asleep, or C) when the family is out running errands (like now, for instance). Aside from that, I have to be SuperDad most of the time.

Besides that, I'm 36 so my window of opportunity is a bit more...condensed. I'm a mortgage guy and that business sucks right now so....onward we go.

Still, fortunately I am one persistent mofo. Either I'm very determined OR 'the wheel is spinning but the hamster's dead'.

    Gonna' go launch another campaign.

Maybe he's trying to promote "cat food ringtones". If he could convert ANYBODY from buying cat food to buying a ringtone, he would have A LOT more than 5 websites. Take ALL the categories from ebay and start a website about each and everyone one of them and you would be able to apply your technique. You're saying that the "fan website" thing was just an example but it makes too much sense to bid on "fan website keywords" to get people to your site and get an affordable CPC.

But then again the FREE technique of giving something away for free and then offering them a ringtone/membership is the only other way.

Sounds like incentivizing an offer, which is pretty much prohibited network-wide on Azoogle for ringtones.
