    Hi

I am trying my hardest to get advertisers but i have had no look. I have tried giving free ads away but out of 500 emails i only had 3 responses. Even my paid adverts are really cheap/cheaper than the competition but still no interest. Any ideas what i can do, my site is in my sig.

    Maybe try Adtoll.
But you need better stats, Alexa ranking and PR wouldn't hurt.

Read the first post dude..He clearly said the site is on his signature. Well, in case you didn't know, sig is a short terms of signature.

    To OP.
    -Your site is still new.
-Cluttered with "caravan sites" words that might be good for SEO but might get G come and penalised you.
-17 links in Yahoo none in Google.

My advise, spend some money for submitting your site to directories or perhaps hiring someone to write a news press and reviews.

Yeah google seems tough to crack but i am listed well i am on first page for some keywords. Unfortunatley money is my problem i dont have any to spend until i start earning. I would of thought the idea of a free advert would be great and appealing but no one seems to want to.

You might want to offer free ads space for a limited time just to kick start your advertising plan.
Like, let the advertiser send you feedback of what they think after advertised on your site.

People will look on site PR (most people are crazy for PR anyway) before commit themself to buy an ads space.
They will not consider to buy if they think the site will probably not sending them visitors.

People advertise on high traffic sites. They need to be certain to get a good ROI. If you had the traffic, you won't be looking for advertisers, they will be the one contacting you. Work more on your site, improve the link popularity, wait for the next Google update to get a higher PR, make yourself more credible and you should be fine.

Also, remove that counter at the bottom of your page, it's so web 1.0 and everyone knows it can be faked :)

and remove the "114 people viewing this site now" text, everyone knows thats b*lls when your alexa rank is 4.5mn and youve only got one google indexed page.

basically mate, it needs time, and work, and by time I mean months and months, and by work I mean a lot of it.

Its not as easy as starting a webpage and selling advertising space on it. Its like starting a "newspaper" thats actually a sheet of A4 paper stuck on your bedroom wall and trying to sell advertising space on that. It just doesnt have the exposure to warrant anybody buying space on it.

:D Unless your bedroom is a very high traffic area of course. :D

I agree, since it is still early you might want to consider giving out more free adspace and you'll have the opportunity to charge more when your site reaches more people and is getting more target.

To get Google friendly you need some unique content and need to keep adding content - perhaps caravan, site or country reviews...

If you ever get fed up and want to sell the website, drop me a PM with details. I am currently looking for a nice caravan related site and yours fits the bill nicely.

Google already dinged your site for selling things (PR 0). This is why people aren't as interested in advertising

Your site is like 2 million Alexa, which means you get very small traffic.

People advertise on Alexa 10,000 sites not 2 million, 10K alexa site can huge traffic like 30,000 people a day comming to them.
Unless your getting thousand of people comming to your site everyday, no one would want to advertise with you.

Yeah, it's really difficult to solve the chicken and egg problem (advertisers-visitors) at first. I recommend writing a press release.

    PRLog.net does them for free.
