Hey all. I'm just dipping my feet in the waters of advertising/marketing. Not experienced whatsoever, but very interested in getting started. The question is, where do I start? There's so many options, ways of advertising, etc. I would just like to guidance to becoming somewhat successful in this field. I don't have a ton of money to start buying guides and systems, but some advice from those who are experienced would be nice. PM me if you can help.
Are you interested in websites or blogging...maybe both? Whichever it is, acquire one. Then, read, read, read. You want to gather knowledge about how to make your site attractive, what programs to use, and how to get traffic. All of which you can find in this forum. Click "Forum Jump" and look for forums related to these topics...read everything you can find. Don't buy e-books. Don't buy traffic. When you decide blog or site...PM me and I will send you in the right direction. However, you must gain the knowledge yourself. With the experience of doing so will come lessons that no one can tell you about. There are a lot of people here willing to help. Best of luck.
Your first step should always be: read, read, read. Subscribe to all the top blogs in whatever area you are looking into, and research your head off.
Well, sheesh. He didn't last long...it must have been all the dup posts stating what a newbie is is/was. He's not that newbie...I've seen several posts about him using various services to gain sales on his affiliate crap. Good riddance.
I agree you need to read read read and figure out what is fake and what isnt! you want to know the backbone of marketing
There are lots of way to advertise or promote your websites or blogs. Some are free while others need to pay a small amount of money. Depending on your contents and topics, the results could be different for different web marketing strategies that you are employing. Cheers!
The OP may be gone, but this noob appreciates all the help in this thread. Thanks to everyone that's shared great advice, and too bad the OP was too dense to realize what a gold mine of information this place is.
My personal advise is to not run around buying lots of ebooks and throwing tons of money at things. I did this on my first run of internet marketing, and I lost a little money(I didn't have enough to lose a lot). This is my second run and it's far more methodical. Don't buy anything online until you have earned the money to pay for it online. Initially I did that freelancing(See my sig for details) and that still beings me in anywhere from $500 to $3000 per month. You can then use that money as seed money to pay for your education. Whatever you find works for you online: 1. Make a plan. 2. Focus on one goal. 3. Finish your projects before you move on to the next thing. 4. Resent...really RESENT...anything that costs you money online. If you absolutely MUST pay(ie hosting, domain names), then look to recoup that cost as fast as you can, however you can.
