The biggest problem with Obama as I see it, as a voter, politics aside...

He is too young. He looks young, he acts young, and he's not had but a smidgen of experience in a public office which he has yet to even complete.

Leave politics, nationality, his Muslim ties and background, education, intelligence, party affiliation aside... He's just too young. He looks like he is 35 next to the other candidates..

I've not heard anyone mention his age, but I would be willing to be given the right polling conditions, you'd find him losing out based on his age.

I think you're probably right, Jeremy. But that is a far cry from a "life-support" campaign, since the guy is beating Clinton in Iowa, for one.

I agree.. Had to go to the office early this morning and left my XM in my other car... I was listening to Don and Roma on WLS (have not heard that in a while)... They mentioned that in mock straw polls the top 5 Republican Candidates vs. Hillary in a general election, all beat Hillary in a land slide..

The point here I think, is that the more ground Hillary loses, the more Obama gains.. I guess I don't think he is on "life-support" per say, but I would be willing to bet that more of his forward progress goes to sinking Hillary support than Obama campaign gains.

    Thoughts?

I think it is more than that - I've alluded to it above - it is interesting to note that Iowa voters are strongly indicating they seek "newness," in a word, in their candidate of choice. And "newness" is being strongly associated with Obama. So I do think his rise is part of a larger trend, which I can't help comparing to a fairly distant politician, Gorbachev. Many predicted he would go down, early on. I remember a professor of mine, my mentor, the late Greg Luebbert, predicting that not only would Gorbachev survive, but the Soviet Union would collapse within his lifetime. He said there was a structural demographic shift in the Soviet Union, that set up a literal "new generation" of young, politically mobilized citizens making liberalization a ripe cause. He was right, and I think we've got something of the same thing here, though much smaller and obviously of a very different nature. We are at the crest of a "paradigm shift," to use an overused word, I believe - and Obama has tapped this surge. My prediction, anyway.

That's some great reasons to vote for Obama.

    are you joking?

he said "I am a member of Trinity United Church of Christ"

Not too hard to interpret... I'm seriously confused by why you were asking that question.

Edit: having read through this whole thread I'm quite disgusted/disturbed. Wow. Luckily it looks like most people have a bit more sense in America than some of the folks have shown in this thread and Obama has a very good chance of becoming the next president of the US.

Obama has said that he is a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ

Sounds like Bill Clinton saying he never had sex with that women.

Sorry to hear that you are disgusted/disturbed

How does it sound like that?

    What are you talking about?

He said he is a member of a church called the Trinity United Church of CHRIST. What is confusing about that?

Bogie one more than par :D

Obama to my knowledge has not publicly stated that he is a christian.

Tucker Carlson claims that the Trinity United Church of CHRIST "sounds separatist to me" and "contradicts the basic tenets of Christianity,"

First of all I don't think any candidate's religion should be of importance.

But this harping on Obama's religion is just absolutely sickening and shows exactly the depths to which people will go to to discredit someone based on bigotry and intolerance.

And yes Barack Obama has publicly said he is a Christian, although he shouldn't have to.

    McCain is proven 100% American.

    Obama harbors anti-american attitudes.

    What are Anti-American attitudes?

    What is a 100% American?

Define these terms or they are meaningless.

    They certainly will.

    McCain 36%

    Obama 47%

    Someone else/Not sure 17%

I like Obama's chances vs. John "100 Years In Iraq" McCain.

Looking back on this thread and re-visiting some of my posts in it... I have to say that at this juncture, the more I see and hear of Obama, the more sick I get to my stomach. He came to Wisconsin and gave a speech at a GM plant here and claimed that he would help all GM workers by giving them jobs. He said he would create the jobs by taking jobs away from the military, you know, those people defending these GM workers...

I think Obama is a Islamic plant powered by all the evil in the world and the US hell bent on destroying the US. People should fear this guy... He's going for the throat. Make no mistake about it. He is pure evil in disguise.
