Hostgator affiliate - never become an Hostgator affiliate

I am shocked that a company like Hostgator that havs so many customers and is supposed to be a "serious" company can treat people like they treat me. I was a Hostgator affiliate and got some sales on Commission Junction. Suddenly, without notice hostgator closed my affiliation with them at Commission Junction and hold back the money I earned. maybe the customers didnt pay, I dont know. So I didnt care to much about the closing. I was still an affiliate to Hostgator directly. A few days ago I appealed wanting to be an affiliate with them again at Commission Junction to make more money for each sign up. A direct affliliate with hostgator gets only $50, but $100 through Commission Junction. They asked for my direct affiliate user name and then they closed my direct affiliate account to with the reason "if you were removed from our CJ program you would not be eligible for our in house program". I still dont know if they will pay me the $50 I earned in the direct affiliate program.

The only respond to my appeal was an closed in house affiliate account and an email that said "if you were removed from our CJ program you would not be eligible for our in house program". That was from Chad Bean in HG, he apparently treats grown up people like shit. What kind of respond to an appeal is that? There is no respect to even tell the reason.

The conclusion is that Hostgator can close your account at any time, possibly because of others action. I still dont know why my accounts was closed. So never ever be an affiliate with hostgator, you can end up losing time and money and life is to short to deal with such small time idiots.

The truth is that if you check my posts here at this forum you will see that I have always defended Hostgator, but I didnt see their real face. I regret that because I now understand what kind of amateurs they are.

there payouts are insane, so honestly i can see if they try to throw off a lot of the affiliate sales.

I've heard both good and bad about HostGator's affiliate system. They can be very sneaky at times which is unfortunate but there are a lot of good paying affiliate programs in the hosting industry with even higher commissions.

HostGator is the WORST. I have been cheated out of so many sales it is not even funny. Would you like to know what "Client Status-Duplicate" really means? If you send a customer and they sign up for a low priced package then later upgrade to a higher paying package the HG affiliate system shows duplicate accounts and then they cancel your commission.

You can try contacting Brent, the owner. He is pretty good about dealing with issues like this, but their staff (tech and customer support) are completely worthless.

Do you think $50 is ok? ALL hosting companies pays around $100 at Commison Junction. Thats where you want to go.

It's pretty simple we don't pay for fraud. What was your affiliate id? What site were you pushing it on? There's always another story....

We pay for all legit signups that stay with us. Our inhouse system tells you the domain that signs up so it's impossible to cheat you on them when you can easily load the url to see if their site works and it's on our server.

Since you have the domain you just does it load or does it not. That determines if your getting paid when we run signups...

I have had an issue wth HostGator recently, I dealt with the staff aswell, but Brent (the HostGator account here at DP I believe) is a top bloke and is excellent to deal with, he's helped me twice now through DP - and I am really surprised at how much he helps, contributes and supports members here at DP.

So after using them for several years I have to say that I am a big fan of Hostgator and I am willing to pay that bit extra for hosting - when the owner (Brent) is so helpfull and still down to earth.

My affiliate ID is coming in Brents PM, not to be posted her. Lets hear all about the other story Brent...
You are also welcome to tell why Chad Bean is an arrogant prick. Or tell him that he can be like that towards his kids, but not towards other grown up people.

I have Dealt with Chad and Brent personally and never came off to being a prick. Im sure theres another side to the story and i doubt hostgator is going to risk their reputation over a few bucks.

Maybe your aff link was used in a scam. it is possible.

Yeah, I found your post surprising. I've been a Hostgator customer for a couple of years. I've also tried out other hosts, and so far my two favorites are Hostgator and Myriad Networks. I've exchanged dozens of emails with Hostgator and found them to be amazingly helpful and flexible. If you had trouble getting paid affiliate fees, there must be more to it. I've referred several people but never pursued the affiliate thing, but I can't believe they'd be so good at the billing and tech support issues, then not be fair with the affiliate payout. There must be more to it.

There is no way they would pay out $100 for every referral you get because they would run out of business.
