John Chow's blog is crap and I know you agree! Read here please.

We all know his site is crap no offense. I'm kind of angry at the fact that he makes so much, but it's basically Michael Kwan's blog now. He writes quality reviews as well as the guest posters that manage to get on, and he'll come on to write the occasional trade show or lunch post.

My question is how does a man like that manage to still get so many viewers going to his site as well as earn so much?

 

I never knew he existed till the other week when he poped up in a post on another forum.

Sure, John Chow's blog offers very little useful advice. And lately, his blog is flooded with useless reviews, aimed at making him more money than he already does. However, the simple fact is that he's doing quite well for himself. In my opinion, the success of his blog is based mostly on its virility, and the buzz that it builds. People love to hear about others success, and in turn to imagine that they too can achieve the same success. In some ways, John is a genius. His link bait campaign yielded him hundreds of incoming links for free, however, in the end this ended up hurting him as Google wasn't too fond of this idea. Who cares if his blog is crap? No one here can tell me that they do not envy his success, myself included. And perhaps more importantly, you might be interested to know that his blog is not his only source of income. John Chow makes quite a bit of money running his other site The Tech Zone, which writes hardware reviews.

Another interesting fact, it is rumored that John Chow at one point was an active DP member.

 

A lot of blogs are crap as long as it makes him money who cares, if you don't like it don't go to it.

 

I think for you his blog is crap, but not for many readers out there.

His tech site is loads better that his blog.

 

Yeah, I've noticed that his blog is a little sluggish lately. Maybe he should upgrade his server.

I did not know john chow's site until now. But now I visited it. Thats how his traffic builds i guess. Unpopularity is sometimes as powerful as popularity.

I agree totally, His posts are just so bloody invaluble, Im glad he got kicked off google. I prefer the blogs that actually help such as:

He talk about himself way too much, that's why it's shit. Yes, he makes 5 digits, but he behave himself like it 6 digits, out of curiousity why so many compare him with Shoemoney, lol

 

Guest posts, Most of which tell you about how much of a failure you are.

I guess its because they're the only really high profile bloggers that I'd ever heard of.

Obviously shoemoney is better because he's here on DP

But both their blogs seem fairly useless.

 

I agree with the person above. I guess it's all just viral. Once they have achieved some success, people go crazy about it, and it just adds on to their success, although they have nothing to write. As far as I know, ProBlogger is the only high profile blogger who is earning what he deserves.
