I stopped that three months ago, so you can congratulate me now! In fact it wasn't easy at all, and it wasn't me who decided do that, my body just refused to live with this habbit, and decided to punish me with dyspnea and pains in the chest, so now I use electronic sigarette and wear Beets BLU hrm to keep the work of my heart under control, and must admit I feel like ten years younger!

Congratulations! Some can kick the habit on their own, others need a warning call to realize they are not as tough as they thought they were. Either way it's a good thing. If you keep the habit at bay your body will eventually rejuvenate itself and, who knows, you may lose all of the negative consequences as a result.

I don't smoke, but my brother just quit about ten days ago by using the nicotine patch on prescription from a doctor. He says that it works great and eliminates the cravings. He had smoked for many decades.

    Have you looked into e-cigarettes/vaporisers?

You'd still be using nicotine (initially), but you wouldn't be inhaling anything like the chemicals you get with cigarettes, in anywhere near the same amounts. I kicked cigarettes four years ago using them. They've become a bit of a douchebag hipster accessory these days, but they really do work.

First, I think that it would be difficult to stick a patch on someone without them quickly discovering it. However, if you could do that, I would be worried that he still continues to smoke while wearing the patch and getting too much nicotine into his system from both the patch and the cigarettes combined. My brother wanted to quit and used the lack of cravings from the patch to help him do so. There were still the issues of habit and ritual (the pleasure of having a smoke after dinner or with a drink) that he had to fight off. With the physical addiction handled by the patch, he was able to fight off the mental addiction on his own.

Oh! never thought about the double dosage of nicotine. I haven't done it yet I was worried that he may dislike it due to the withdrawal syndrome and I might just be wasting money by doing that. Thanks for letting me know. :)
