Like I said in a few posts, report it to the relevant authorities.
Guys, make a complaint via the Internet Crime Complaint Center - it's a legitimate outfit run by the FBI. By the sounds of things this person or these persons are running a scamming operation that runs into thousands and thousands of dollars.

You've all tried complaining to Paypal and Godaddy and have got nowhere so now it's time to turn to the appropriate authorities. Even if it's just one domain name it is probably part of a bigger scam and if no-one does anything about it except complain on DP then it's going to continue and you won't stand any chance of getting the domains back. Make a complaint to the FBI about this deliberate and outright fraud and you may get the domains back.

    Use Escrow for bigger transaction.

By the way, contact your domain registrar and send them all the proofs. I hope you get your domain back.

thanks agni for your kind words, I have opened a seperate thread here with advice on using other payment processors for transactions, and escrow for any larger ones.

I just hope that people that really really depend on this money to make a living (and eat etc.) dont get scammed by these unscrupulous people.

Of course they do - the fraudster is within their jurisdiction.

I ran throught the complaints process and it accepts complaints from ANY COUNTRY - which makes sense as criminals operating on the Internet can scam people from any country, not just the US.

I will in that case report it, but as an example of authorities lack of care, I am currently reporting a fraud of over $100,000 for a website I have sold, to the police in one COUNTY of the UK and they are not interested because the victim (me) is in another COUNTY of the UK, nevermind country!!

That's unbelievable! Not what you say but that they are dragging their heels about it.

Complain to the Police Complaints Commission.

You could try the Serious Fraud Office.

Paypal remains the most convenient channel to do financial transaction in the Internet.

I wonder if the mods at DP are going to get involved in this? I mean, provided there is some watertight proof (Ie, thread URL, sale details, PP & GD emails, can't they get involved and ban the scammers?
Seriously, there should be something in the rules that says that DP can ban or terminate anyone that they believe is a scammer, and IP ban and so on, or even better, pass details onto court. That would scare the wannabes, and for the people who do scam, it would get rid of them, or their reputation for a while.
Another thought, you cant trade if you have negative rep can you? I could well be wrong, but I thought I read it somewhere :\
Otherwise, there should be a scammer thread created, and I'd be happy to start and maintain it, which contains information on the people who have done the scamming here at DP, give new time buyers and sellers something to look at in advance.
This is a huge problem, and I don't know why Shawn hasn't gotten involved, because DP is getting a reputation for being the home of scammers, and it's going to hurt them in the long run :\

The Mods cannot get involved in transactions between members. I mean, if the authorities with all their resources have trouble tracking some of these people down how can DP mods do it? Aside from anything else it would come down to one person's word against another, there would be fake 'he scammed me' threads and it would be a nightmare. No, I think the Mods really have to stay out of private transactions between members.

Someone mentioned it above - you need to have GREEN rep to be able to post in the BST section so if someone really is a scammer and it's fairly obvious, rep-bomb them with red - with a bit of luck their rep will turn RED and they will no longer be able to post in the BST.

I think they can still post, just not new threads. It should become a rule, scammers get negrep, and if they have negrep, dont sell to them. Simple
And it was me who suggested it ;)

So, everyone go rep-bomb felics, now ;)

Already have. I do it with any obvious scammer. ;)
    I think they're already banned - so we can't rep-bomb them.

Edit: And that says something about the Mods too - they hate scammers as much as anyone. If someone is an outright and obvious scuzzbucket they will be banned.

DP is becoming a breeding ground for these people... :( Something needs to be done now... Is anyone going to step up to the plate? People are just going to get tired of it. There is a scammer thread every 5 hours or so here now.. Can't something be done??
