Scam Products

Okay guys. I am completely new to CB. I have a blog that I am about to monetize using CB products. I have been discussing this with online contacts that I have but I am still not 100% convinced about CB. For me most of the CB products look like scams. I have spotted out some products and google them extensively. I have found out sites saying that people were scammed etcetc. Even from what a lot of products promise, they really look like scams.

I own a reputable blog and I don't want to spoil my name and the blog. I would like to know what you think. Thanks :)

BTW I am in the work from home, make money online business...

Sometimes people will say that they were scammed by one product just to promote another. Watch for affiliate links when reading about people being scammed. ;)

It passed from my mind but I have seen discussions in forums where people do test orders and they post that they got scammed...

Do you thoroughly test a product before promoting it. Let's say you are reviewing an ebook do you read the ebook and see that it is not scammy? I mean there is my reputation that I have to take care of.

    Thank you for your time.

many products are crap, if you are worried about your reputation either purchase it (with your hoplink so you only have to pay a %) or contact the publisher with your site and all details and ask for a review copy so you can promote it better.

thanks for the tip wowhaxor. I think I will go the long way since I really value the reputation. I prefer to sell than being accused of ripping people off by promoting crappy products!

If the product looks like a SCAM to you - don't promote it.

However, scam or not - users have at least 56 Days to get a refund... so even if the product is very low quality - it's not really a scam since you can get your moolah back.

    just my $0.02

There are a lot of scams in this niche, you can try to promote Project Wealthy from NCMedia; I got a free copy from him here

and let me tell you this product is great, there is a lot of information there and very well put together. This is not your average crappy product that you find everyday on clickbank. This is the real deal.

    Good Luck.

shoeshine - it's a broad playing field. There are jewels and there is crap. it's up to you to research and make the determination. Good old CJ, as respected as it is (lol...), has an even wider range of jewels and crap. so you can't expect that any single affiliate program ensures total quality

Scam is actually the wrong word. You see scam is something where you get ripped off your money but in the case of clickbank you can easily get a refund within 2 months. And no product on clickbank is a scam every product offers information but people feel they are being scammed as sometimes they buy ebooks which have information they are already aware of but this same ebook might be worth gold for many newbies out there. You see it's more a matter of how much knowledge you have on the topic. Additionally clickbank is one of the oldest and most trustworthy affiliate networks out there & I don't think any other affiliate network has produced more millionaires than what clickbank has.

Keep in mind that there are also some evil BUYERS out there.... I've personally read posts on sites (not this one) that say things like "How To Get All The FREE ClickBank Products You Want", the article/post then tells the potential buyer to buy a product, then complain to ClickBank tht they want a refund. Of course then ClickBank refunds the money, the buyer gets to keep the ebook/software, etc... and the AFFILIATE and PUBLISHER are out of money. It's not cool.

Many CB products are total scams, but many have at least some value. You have to do your research. And yeah, there are "evil buyers" out there who exist just to rip off merchants. It's a two way street.

Research the product if it is something you think of promoting them buy it off your own link. If it's bad refund it, if its good promote it. The best way to promote a product for the best conversions is to know what you are selling.

These so called "Evil customers" (or so you call them) who deliberately plan to buy and then request a refund aren't unique to Clickbank. It's an inevitable aspect of sales whenever a return policy exists. We should feel fortunate that Clickbank has such a liberal and well-advertised return policy because I'd rather sell 10 widgets and have 3 returned then sell 6 and have none returned. That's exactly what their return policy gives us. It allows us to sell to the "highest level", and whenever we're allowed to do that, returns are inevitable.

When a prospective customer is making a decision to buy, they are either confident about making the purchase, or they are on the fence. Do you think customers who are on the fence are more likely to buy something without a return policy, or with one?

It's similar to the mail-in-rebate concept. Some customers take advantage of the rebates by remembering to fill-them out and mail them back properly, but the rebates still help to maximize sales volume and increase the bottom line.

As salesmen using the Clickbank marketplace, we need to understand that sometimes there are necessary sacrifices and ideal balances, and things that seem harmful at first glance may actually benefit us in the long-run.

I get tired of hearing people talk of customers who return items with some sort of "evil intention" or malice. Everyone is looking for the best deal possible and people who play the system, while a minority, will always exist.

Well said, parasites will always be a part of any business model both merch and aff sides of the table, CB doesn't like them either as they lose out too. Having the CB refund policy does work in our favor - though i will admit that 30 days would be better (however really, i don't think it would make a difference, who would decide between 31-55 days and not before to return something they downloaded)... For a refund policy on digital downloads to be effective and pro-merchant, it would literally have to be no more than a few days.

So really, CB may have opened it's doors to crappy publishers, however they too have retention strategies (if I ran a network, would I care how crappy these websites that want to make me money are? possibly, but hey as long as customers can return them, let all the crap in - it's money we wouldn't otherwise make). Many other networks work in different ways, different standards, and of course - different fee's/affiliate pools etc. CB has attracted tons of crappy publishers who attract tons of newbies and over the years everyone evolves, but that constant flow of crap and beginners will always be there along with parasites. CB has hit a HUGE market, and is riding a nice wave while offering deregulated channels to poor marketers ;) - business. How can YOU benefit? Make killer product.

@SEO - thanks for the recommendation on PW, appreciated.

    Cheers,
    NC
