This game is so awesome but its so addictive that it ruins some ppl's lives. If you are one of the few who can control their playtime efficiently, tell us how.

I work within the Real-Money Trade industry (known loosely as "Gold Sellers" to some). I could give you the perspective of how this practice can actually aid people who find themself addicted to WoW, but shalln't do it here due to the inevitable flaming that would ensue.

PM if you'd like to discuss it though ;)

It only ruins the lives of people who are too psychotic to realize they actually need to eat and sleep.

I play WoW. I've never felt compelled to stay on the game for so long that I forget to take care of myself. I cannot imagine it ruining my life. I play with a lot of friends and relatives and NONE of them are anywhere close to "addicted" to it, either.

It's not rocket science. If you are seriously that involved in a game, you need to get a reality check. Try setting a timer or alarm clock to go off after a certain amount of play time and FORCE yourself, if you have to, to leave the computer.

Too much of anything isn't healthy.

I just stopped playing. I got too into that game a few years ago, from release to expansion. The problem is there is an infinite number of things to do, and knowing where to draw the line and say "Ok, enough for today."

When it comes to addiction, I think it's a matter of your subconcious will. If you don't have the willpower, you're gonna have to start doing things that are going to eventually change your subconcious will to what you conciously want to do. Basically reprogramming yourself.

This is why you can say "I want to quit" and believe it, but inside you don't really want to.

I haven't ever played WoW, but I know of a friend that used to play and was REALLY addicted to it. Him, I and 2 other people were (and still am) really good friends, but he completely ignored us. He eventually quit, though, because it was really addicting. lol

Haha this was funny to find. Yeah, it is very addicting. However, you have to realize and take action for day to day life.. it IS just a game. But we play a lot (me and hubby).. him every night. He got me into the game. I have not been playing as much right now as I am working a lot. I have a 70 Shadow Priest, he has 70 lock and shammy (and almost a rogue) lolz. :)

Actually looking back, you would need to tell something of yourself to answer how to manage it. I think you need a big reality check if you are seriously on that much. But you have acknowledged it... I can't give much advice knowing nothing about you. (I could say something about kids, but if you are 14 then it wouldn't matter much) Get what I am saying?

If you want to see how bad it can get being addicted to World of Warcraft you should check out this woman's story that is making news. She had to divorce her husband because he was playing the game all the time.

I think game addiction is just like any other addiction. People can get too crazy over one thing and let it ruin their life. WoW addiction is just a symptom of a larger problem in that person's life. They are running away from something in their real life that they don't like.

That's so bogus. If you're addicted to a freaking GAME, you have problems. Why destroy a marriage and your life over a bunch of virtual characters!?

Everyone has their own addictions that might surprise them if they were ever forced to give them up.

I joined a few months ago. I do love to play MMORPGs from time to time. After about a month of playing and me at level 45 I have to say I am getting bored with it. I have only been playing like once a week, if that. I think I will cancel my subscription, maybe I'm too old.. Is 27 too old to play WOW? LOL I just feel like I am wasting too much time when I play that game.

    Yep, I agree.

The game is open ended - there is no purpose or goal to attain, so people just wander around forever.

WOW is so addictive but I managed to stop playing after a few days because it's taking up too much of my time.
