Maybe a little off topic but...I love the Office Space avatar! Made any money off of the "Jump To Conclusions" mat idea? Maybe that is the secret. :) LOL

I'm trying to use Adwords to advertise my wholesale related e-book. I don't think using unexploited niches is going to help me any. You're trying to advertise ringtone affiliate programs so it's easier to mass market that.

I guess that's basically the general idea. Find something that most people will want that can be mass marketed and find cheap $.05-$.10 PPC phrases to bid on in Adwords. They don't necessarily have to be related to the product or service because ANYONE can use it.

Another piece of this puzzle is making sure your ad is being displayed on a site that converts. Not every site your ad lands on is going to be a winner. You need to track this with Google's Placement Performance Reports and exclude the bad performing domains/urls.

Good tip, xscream, Placement Reports are very useful. Block those sites that send you 3,000 worthless clicks.....

I have just read all 14 pages. Light bulbs are going off all over the place. Congrats, man...nice work.

    A) Are your 'niches' targeted toward a particular demographic? Say, a demo that might be more inclined to go shopping, talk on their cell phone, and be a bit more naive about punching in their digits on a cool-looking website?

    B) It sounds like this is also really just about traffic. Get enough cheap traffic and the ringtones banner on the landing page that's related to your AdWords ad will seem out of place...but a small percentage WILL convert with enough traffic.

    Am I making sense?

If in A your asking if I target the MySpace demo... absolutely not. At least in my experience, the MySpace demo as a whole has had crap conversions, like 1:300. Try and drill it down into sub demo's...

    B) Absolutely... if you can find 2,000 clicks for $100-150, start firing them at offers. Be smart and patient about it though... figure where the traffic is coming from... are they in a 'buying' state of mind...etc.

Well, up until now, I've been mainly doing the 'cast your vote' type Content Network campaigns around certain key events. Do you do many of those?

This is a challenging puzzle to solve but I'm sure I will get there.

As for my questions...no, I was not asking about MySpace, just wondering if you were targeting a younger demographic...sounds like not.

As for B)...interesting. How would your FREE WOODWORKING TIPS example grab someone who was in a 'buying' state of mind? Obviously, that was simply an example but the question remains.

Since you cannot control (too much) where your traffic comes FROM on the Content Network, unless you placement-target which I know you are only dabbling in, I must then logically deduce that you are referring to the copy within the ad itself.

As in, 'BUY' or 'CHEAP' in the ad with '-FREE' in the KW entry form. Am I on the right track here?

If you want to pick this up on PM instead, let me know and I will show you a copy of my landing page(s).

P.S. - Are you near Norwalk?

Ad copy definetly is about 1/3 of the formula. Having a landing page designed to upsell whatever it is your pushing is the next 1/3 (easier said then done, that's for sure). The last 1/3 is something else sprinkled in to help push the sale through....

Feel free to pm me any landing sites I'll be happy to give feedback, although every case and site is very very different.

    I'm in New Haven.

On your landing page do you add your affiliate links in your text or do you use affiliate banners?

Do you use a comparison page to compare other ringtone websites? I really don't see how you can write about ringtones in any other way.

    Nope, no comparison site...

And don't take it the wrong way, but I'm going to stop answering questions about my own site from this point forward. I'll be happy to coach ringtones in general & content network - so fire away about those!

Well, at least admit how much you make per signup/sale. I don't think that's giving away too much info.

Read the thread instead of insisting that he answer the same question again when you know the answer is already here

How can he only be bidding on 150 keywords/phrases or less when I am bidding on over 1,000 keywords and phrases and I'm still not getting that many clicks? I'm getting thousands of impressions but I'm not getting that many clicks.
