    Hi,

Does anyone know if .edu links are still valuable for seo?

I have seen an article somewhere that they are not that valuable as they used to be...

I don’t think so; in any case the effort should really be in getting back links from sites from the same niche for maximum relevancy and traffic.

No, the links from the blogs of .edu links are fairly useless and u can never a link from there course/home pages which are PR7+

So in short don't waste time. I do believe .edu links are precious but only good once and I don't think people can get good .edu links by signing guestbooks.

Don't be a dumbass. Im sorry for being harsh but this is the biggest rip off i have seen in ages. I cant believe you are even thinking about it.

    1) There were a number of experiments that showed Google is not treating Edu extensions any differently.

    2) Before these experiments Matt Cutts said in plain English that there is nothing special about Edu or any other extension.

    3) If you don't believe me, Google engineer and thousands of other webmasters here on DP who know what they are doing... then you can go and get these pages for free. But whatever you do, don't pay for them.

I thought so too actually. $2000 for 15 pages on 15 different .edu sites is a bit overpriced in my opinion. But wanted to hear your opinion guys. Thanks

Waste of money, do you have any idea how many related backlinks $2,000 could buy? You could easily pay $10.00 a link, get 50 useful relevant links and pre-pay them for 4 months :)

Or, for example, I can get 100 permanent PR2 from relative sources for $2000. Stuff like that...

While I agree that seems like a terrible deal, I'm seeing the .Edu links from my signature blog stick and stick well. Additionally, my blog ranks for lots of the random articles I've put up just from the title of the articles. .Edu domains are obviously still trusted extensively, no matter what Google says.

A PR5 *.edu and a PR5 *.info domain would have the same value if they were both source of relevant content, you do not get any "special" or extra "value" from a *.edu link. To continue to say so is to just spread mis-information, it's funny how the people who insist on it are usually the ones selling *.edu text links.

2 - I know. But ofc he is talking against it, as he is fighting spam... He has to say it isn't true!
