How visible are .swf files?

I put the most common 2KB in size .swf file in web-page's center position instead of text headline to make it look more dynamic. Are simple .swf files visible under all 'Anti-Virus' Programs (or do some give that messages 'click here for options' and do not show .swf at first) and do .swf files have issues with certain browsers? This is the look of it: World Sports

.swf file is the line 'World Sports' in brown box between 'Seasons 07/08' boxes, you can't see it?

I can see it fine. Most of the time SWF's will show up, it's rare for them to be blocked. Internet browsers look at them to be like a jpeg, gif, etc.

Thanks. It's the simpliest kind of .swf file with 2-word dynamic text visible through 'Zone Alarm Anti-Virus Program' set at maximum privacy (blocks all banner ads). At maximum privacy, most banner ads are not visible when browsing web-sites, not sure if they are made as .swf as well. If they are, must be some difference in those .swf files!?

Sounds like you want sifr. Or are using it in some form already. It's Flash to replace text.

Just make sure there's real text underneath and you're cool. Lots of teh Googliebots and people without Flash or images are out there surfing... give everyone something to read.

Look at the ugly pink text on this site http://www.geenstijl.nl (it's a right-wing student blog thing). If you've got a slower connection, you'll first see normal ugly pink text before the Flash kicks in and covers it with bigger ugly pink text (with I think Cooper Black or some such font). People with this virus thingie, or whatever, can still read everything fine.

If you use the Satay embed method to have valid .swf, IE6 and I think 7 will ask the user to click here to continue loading the page... but usually sIfr uses Javascript as well so usually that's avoided.

    Are you using sIfr?

the only problem you might run into with flash is that some of your visitors will not have flash player installed, which will make your site look unattractive to them; unless of course you were to use Stomme poes's idea. I've never tried it myself, but I'll definitely encorporate it on my next Flash site. Thanks man.
