Hi people. I have installed flatpress on one of my website. I have been using wordpress for a long time. The major differences between them is that wordpress require a mysql database to operate whereas flatpress don't. It uses text files to store the informations. But want I still want to know is the differences it does in the search engine fields. Wordpress has some inbuilt functions (that are still unknown to me) that makes it self seo. Does anyone know what are those features that helps for it and that are not included in flatpress. Thanks
What is Flat Press? And yes, Word Press offers incredible benefits and built in features, that no one else offers. With all the support, plug ins, and updates for it, I just don't see how any other platform could even begin to compare. JMO
Just because of the fact that I have never heard of Flatpress I would stick with wordpress, as it has a huge userbase + mods. Wordpress SEO isn't perfect out of the box, but you can easily get a plugin that handles most things.
The downside of using a mysql database is due to the vulnerability of database driven sites to hacking. Those scripts that don't use databases are much less vulnerable to a hacking attempt. Also, it's easier to move them around from server to server. Presently though, database driven sites have many more features than any PHP text file site...that's why database driven sites are much more popular.
I don't understand why you would want to use FlatPress over WordPress. Do you not have database access or is some other reason preventing you from using it? Honestly, I've never heard of FlatPress before this thread. I'm not too familiar with it, but judging from a demo I just saw, I'd be pretty confident saying WordPress has much better SEO features after just a few changes in the configuration. Plus like Crynos said, it has a huge userbase with tons of themes, plugins, and support.
Hacking is just a fact of life and provided you take precautions can be overcome. Across the board database driven apps are going to be much more feature rich than flat files. Not worth fooling with as far as I am concerned
mate can u pm me flatpress url? As far as flatpress vs wp wp has a huge play groung coz its old one and very popular. U can do whatever u want. plugins, and different pther things r available. and a big big support forum
Flatpress site is http://www.flatpress.org I think it may have some future promise, but obviously a new CMS system, and needs a lot of work.
The reason I installed Flatpress was to do some sort of testing. I have wordpress on my main website and flatpress on a subdomain. What I wanted was something very light and intalled rapidly. So I went for that script. But as time passed by, I started to realize that since it was a new open source, maybe I could be helping some part into its development.
FLATPRESS is never heard for me.. why switch to that from wordpress when wordpress is giving us the best.. wordpress is the best platform for blogging for me..
I like to try new CMSs, thanks for the link. I'll give it a whirl on one of my subdomains and see how it works.
very interesting! I may just try this out on one of my other domains just to see how it works..and if I like it I could start developing themes for it as well
After putting the wordpress, and installing some plugins, It is amazing how it tooks so little time to index in google. It took me less than 10 mins for my post to be index. Wow
Hi people, Since the opening of this thread, I have got many people interested in flatpress and they have started to use it. Since some wanted sitemap, I have created a small flatpress sitemap generator and this can be download here.
I have been messing around with FlatPress and I like it. WordPress has sooooo many files now it is a behemoth and it takes me about 10 or 15 minutes just to upload it on a Comcast cable connection. FlatPress was done in about a minute or 2 and when I setting up craploads of Blogs all over the place I don't have time to waste. As long as you know how to code in PHP you might as well stick with what's quick. WordPress is for people that don't know anything about coding. IMHO, Ron
Hmmm! i guess WP is best because of enough customizations, plugins & themes available as compare to Flatpress
^^^ thinks vsplinter is associated with Flatpress. Nice way to stir up interest, increase downloads and get the buzz going!
