When I started this thread, I didn't anticipate all the quality-over-quantity responses. It's funny how the "get-rich-quick" types haven't chimed in. I think we all have the goal of finding that one niche market that we can get nickel adwords clicks, a 20%+ CTR and a 50%+ conversion.. ha! But until I find one of those, I guess I have to focus on organic traffic and repeat visitors. That also keeps my content higher quality.

Does anyone else catch themselves trying to write a good article or post and you find yourself subconciously stuffing phrases into the content? The search engines have influenced how I write! Geez...

Personally, I think quality is key. You CAN absolutely make a LOT of money with low quality websites. And a lot of the methods that those guys use are solid. But I think that spend time developing one solid site at a time (but one that doesn't necessarily require a ton of maintenance) is the way to go. Once you have a solid site, use all of the methods the low quality sites use and you will get the traffic. The difference is, your traffic will come back, and link to you. This causes exponential growth without increased risk of spending money (for arbi for example).

The thing that kills me is some of the crappy sites people put up and actually make money off of. I think I underestimate the stupidity of internet users as a whole. I guarantee that most people on this forum can pick out an affiliate or arbitrage site in a fraction of a second. But "normal" people don't know the difference and happily click around thinking they're going to find the next big thing to make money on the net, inadvertantly making the crappy site owners money in the process, and encouraging more crappy site development.

I make my living on organic search. So yes, some of us are still going "natural." I find PPC to be very frustrating actually, which is why I don't spend as much time on it as I should.

But yes... I do see a lot of people here doing just... ridiculous stuff. Totally wasting their time trying to make 7 cents here and 8 cents there. I'm amazed by that.

I'm also amazed by the amount of people here who seem to think that AdSense is the only way to make money online. HA.

I remember that photo of ShoeMoney with his Adsense check for over 100 grand a few years ago. He claims he did that via organic search only. Must have been the ringtone niche he got into early, but it shows that you can make a lot of money via organic search if you work at it hard enough.

Well, organic traffic requires knowing "tricks-of-trade"... it's not like going to happen instantly.

I've too favored organic over PPC, but started to focus more PPC stuff too - since that's one of the easiest ways to get leads (if we don't consider JVs)

90 percent of my traffic comes from search results. people have trouble remembering urls. they just go to google.com and type what they want to know. i have a british friend who would go to google.com and type gmail so he could log in to his gmail account.

With so high percentage, it's good to remember that if Google does some changes... you have to make sure they don't harm you.
