That did cross my mind, but the more i think about it the less it seems likely. The affiliate button was Nofollow, it also had a link to the script maker in the footer however many thousands of other sites have this and the links to an "authority" domain with sitelinks and high PR.

Which brings me to the one Dofollow to my friends site, i registered the domain in my name for him so to Google (who's a registrar) i would be selling a text link to myself.

If i had dozens of links i'd be inclined to think, yeah link penalty but to wipe the site off the map for thousands of rankings for a single text link doesn't add up.

I have seen reductions in PR, and a small drop in "some" SERP's for link selling... Also for extreme cases (TLA, JohnChow etc) the site failing to rank for it's own domain... But i have never seen a -5000 penalty for every SERP just for having a link.

Yes definitely keep us updated, in my hunt for similar sites to mine recently i have come across an abnormally large number of webmasters who are experiencing the same issue as you with the datacenters.

Our symptoms are different, however the same cause may be behind both sites.

Yeah, that's what's frustrating... The SEO methods i use are as bullet proof as possible, as you can see by the #11 rank for "SEO" on Google for that site. I've used the same methods 100's of times, and all other sites are holding or gaining rank fine except for the effected one.

The site that got snuffed out was completely White Hat, and i obviously have some idea what i'm doing by the fact i'm beating some of the biggest names in the SEO industry all on my own... So the state of Google's index and what happened to this site just doesn't add up.

maybe you pissed off some of your competitors and they reported you for something completely false......then google came down hard........maybe just maybe they would rather give you the axe because you make less money for them (google) than the people doing the whining.

It is quite possible that nobody said anything at all and google does it all on their own for the sake of money.....tweaking the results to put the higher rollers first on the list so that google in turn makes more.

Is it correct that google does manual reviews on sites in their index? I know they do it for adsense.

If so, could the answer be that your site simply did not pass a manual review? Perhaps the reviewer saw something he didn't like, or he just screwed up.

It just seems like it would make sense. For your site to be pulled from serps in all datacenters at the same time--- it just sounds like someone "pulled the plug".

If this is the case, shouldn't your reinclusion request be the correct response?

Well you know, it's funny you should say this because it was a hunch i had right from the beginning but didn't want to say anything in case it was labeled a "Conspiracy Theory". But frankly it's the only thing that makes sense.

The #1 site in my niche is a Premium Adsense publisher, and every day i was taking SERP's off him like they were going out of fashion. Overlaying our Alexa graphs he was taking a sharp nosedive at the same time i was making a vertical climb, so i know i was making an impact.

Do you believe that google has people that can remove domains from their index manually?

Yes, that one is long confirmed. Google can also prevent a domain or page from passing PageRank, as well as it being passed to individual links on a page.

Yep it appears that way, obviously a Premium Publishers phone call saying my revenue's sinking and i seem to be loosing traffic to xyz.com holds some weight with the button pushers.

I've no doubt what so ever my site would of passed a manual review without so much as a raised eyebrow. It would have to be the single most Google Webmaster compliant site i have ever owned, run or worked on.

If the re-inclusion request yields no results, well it speaks volumes about the situation.

I couple pages back I mentioned perhaps writing them a "real letter" not email, any thoughts on that?

SEO is a real high profile keyword when it comes to Google.

Is the #11 spot giving you traffic?

Yeah, even I would like to know that.
Was, it really worth, working so hard and trying to rank for "SEO"?

I know, you(sweetfunny) use it as a "credibility" proof for potential clients.
But, does it give you any monetary benefits? What kind of traffic and clients do you get from that position?

I don't think morally G would topple a competitor to keep making adsense bucks if that is what has been implied.

Sweetfunny, I just came across this, which might shed some more light, or not. But I do hope it helps, or least further limits stones unturned.
