How do you deal with PayPal payments for your paid directory?

How do you deal with PayPal payments for your paid directory? Do you manually check all the PayPal payments you receive, then you list the site in the directory? Or do you see the site first, decide if you'll include it or not, then ask the owner for the payment?

Is it a better solution to implement automated payments? What issues did you encountered with it?

    Hello..

Payment is made first then an editor reviews the site to make sure its decent
or at least acceptable as "Quality" is in the eye of the beholder.

Most scripts are done in this fashion...

Though rumor has it that phpld will be soon changing it so that the payment is
done first then the info is sent after payment is completed to stop the spam and
none payers as well as automated scripts that are a menace .

    thx

Automated payments means allowing spam to be listed without reviewing the site

Check pp first, if review payment is there then review the site. Why waste your precious time reviewing a site if the payment is not there.

I have never refunded a PayPal payment. Will I be charged for refunding?

I have the experience to know by the title and description if they are going to pay. 99% it works.
Still I don't understand the spammers that put so much effort on something that is pointless. No one will add their site if they didn't pay

I review a site when it has paid. Acceptance/rejection - either way I do not refund the review fee.

Good piece of advice there malcolm, and thanks for the thumbs up on the phpld rumour on paypal. We've had this feature from the start with phpLynx to prevent spammers who claim to make payment but then don't only to bog you down with false promises it works excellently. Nothing more annoying than a promise of a payment that never happens, at least holding them in a 'pending' status allows for prevention of these spammers, or you can always 'auto-delete' the submission if payment is not made which makes it even better. Spammers 0 - Us 1. :)

I don't bother reviewing the site if there is no completed payment on my account. So spammers can **** ** **** :D

If they can read under the stars ;), I'm sure they'll do exactly as you suggested.

You have an ad on your site who changed my mood in a happy one.
"Your site would look good here" :D

I saw on a house, "If you lived here, you would be home now"
