Bannings & Quality on DP

No doubt there are a lot of people who deserved to be banned from DP. With such a huge forum, I am sure we can all agree that sometimes the quality suffers from people pretending to know what they are doing and some flat out scammers.

Which is why I find it curious that DP also bans solid members with great post counts and iTrader status earned over a long period of time. I am referring to joey112 who was banned recently for a dual account (which he says was his brothers and hadn't been used in 12 months anyway).

Now one of the mods was kind enough to give me some clues to track down joey's contact details so I was able to continue doing some business with him, but to be honest, he was one of the few posters who kept me coming back here (and one of the ones who seemed to make a living at this gig as opposed to many on the board).

Would it be too much to ask that common sense prevail and joey112 be reinstated? :)

Two thousand posts, nearly one year of membership and he still hadn't managed two green blobs. Maybe he wasn't so solid after all!

The Mods can ban who they want. He should have notified the mods of his 'brothers' account.

The usual would be to PM one of them and let them know. They would then make a usernote and as long as the two members in question played fair there would be no problem. The key thing to avoid misunderstandings is to 'fess up before being caught.

What...? Do I need to keep tabs on all my family and friends and tell them they better not join or log into DP because it could get me banned just because they might log into here with the same IP I have used ?

And what do those green blobs have to do with anything ? I don't think you should use those to judge a persons character. Just maybe they haven't kissed the right asses around to achieve lots of green blobs ?

Its really all about intent. When 2 people from the same ip are shilling eachothers posts or bumping for eachother... or other DUH situations is when a ban happens.

Use your head and you will be ok.

Also the person you are vouching for has 3 pages of infractions and hardly any reputation..

So when you speak of quality?

As long as those banned are deserving... no problems then... keep up the good work :D

... and I don't think I need to worry as I have no friends and my family is not smart enough for a place like DP ;)

The mods have information that we won't have, so it is best just to leave the moderating to them.
