And question for everyone. How else are they able to use a image of a car like the one the fellow is looking for if not from an image? Is there a istock photo of these cars ? So they are not copyright? There in also is another thing, if we spend money to get images for a logo contest we may not win to makeup for the cost then we are out cash instead of making cash. Its one thing to make dog out lines and not use someones pic of their artwork of a dog but cars? Here is my attempt
I already told to the CH about that. I can design a car so there's no problem with that. And no, i redered the image by myself. Outlaw_Racing i can do a car and make it real from a sketch, tomorrow i'll do the design and i'll show it to you
CnSGD.. its very complicated. Technically you would have to buy a stock photo, or shoot it yourself, or illustrate/render it yourself, or simply have the permission from the owner. Of course everyone is going to take a photo of a car, but its when ur getting payed to create that logo where it becomes an issue. Im not going to tell you designers not to do it. Personally I think it looks nice, I just dont want anyone getting sued. When people come to this forum for help, they are searching for graphic designers. That means YOU think up, and design your client's product. Putting other peoples work together may look good, but its not proffesional. Im not sure, I'de like someone to clerify for me (send me a PM), but is it copyright infringment if you were to trace/outline an image of a car (for ex, AI's auto trace feature), turning it into vector artwork than using it? To the contest holder: I think if anyone here can design and create a custom original non-copyrighted car such as what zeba5 says, then it certainly deserves a spot above those using existant, possibly popular, photos. -Joe
Interesting points, I do not think the outline of an object can be copyright unless it is a separate trademark. Zeba5 is in poll position at the minute, thanks to everyone else.
