well how many of you get rejected by the dmoz editor from being selected as editor there are many people like me who want to contribute honestly for dmoz and search engines but every time theuy refuse now people will say fault is on your side you have not filled up application forum correctly but dear i have tried and get the help of my friends also all gone in vain.

They simply reject the persons they think might spam but i and many of you can look in dmoz directory it is full of spam links it really sucks. Some websites are half made some are not opening. Some are listed in dmoz in number of times. If you list a website for a number of times then what about other billions of websites will do. They simply do whatever they like good they dont care as what can a person can do.

    Do you have same thoughts

Presumably this is a thinly disguised complaint about how you were rejected as an editor for a category. I don’t want to be rude (although I can be if you so require) but was the category you applied for in the main (i.e. English) part of the directory?

With all the things I dislike about the ODP, one of the things I actually do like, is their application process for becoming an editor. The reason I like it is that NO ONE get's rejected.

Yeah, yeah, they may say NO for various reasons, but you can always re-apply (though, you may need to re-apply to a different category).

So honestly, if you feel rejected by your rejection letter, then 'try, try again'

That's not entirely correct. A few applicants are declined and asked not to apply again.

Q its me and their waiting for me to go back to my cats again so it gets updated. The catch is they have to torture me first before re-instatement. :D

Is there an easier way without torture ? :p

I have applied a few times now and have been rejected each time - honestly applying for just a local category with which I have no personal manner of gain, the only upside is that my personal site has been accepted into the same category (I listed it as one of my recommended sites)

This from the person who claims they snuck into the ODP under another editor name and has been editing for a while now... did you change your story, Popo?

Well Count Alucard, this is why there are confusions and misunderstanding between DMOZ and the general web population because of miscommunication. As I have said before there are street smart and there are book smart. Which one are you ?
Let me re-phrase myself again and I will explain it a little further just like me a 5th grader.
No change of story there. It's me, Clark Kent not the SexyBeast. :D

I have a graduate degree in the limited category that I applied for, still I was refused. Not in the habit of lifting up my own stool, I believe I have more education than majority of their editors. It gives me the impression that ODP is becoming a self-serving directory for those already in.

    @mizpah14:

    It's not about educational level.

The email you received explained exactly what was wrong with your application in the notes towards the bottom. Did you not read them?

The letter said that they no longer accept editors for that category. I guess I could re-apply for another category.

well it is true that they repeat the same mail including stuff like you want to promote yourself,yu didn't filled the application well and so much but they even don't care to give a true reason for it and specially there is no guidelines provided to you that can help you to fill form exactly in a prescribed way

Ummm, Mark? See "Become an Editor" link:
Note the detailed paragraph titled "Filling Out the Application Form" with yet another link to the guidelines in addition to explaining how to fill out the form.

I don't review the apps, so I don't take the credit or blame... but as far "no guidelines provided to you that can help you to fill form exactly in a prescribed way"... it simply isn't the case. If you passed that page by without reading it, it may be true that "yu didn't filled the application well ".

well you can say that because you are member of it. I hold my words to this thing that there are some more complications for any new member. What i tried new every time 1) changed email 2)changed name 3)Also tried to go for the lowest category who dont have any editor now if after that much of effort i dont became an editor its just what can i say for it.
