OK Guys, My new service and web site needs some honest hard hitting reviews. Don't hold back at all. The site is http://www.BlogPayz.com My developer will be monitoring this thread and hopefully he can implement some of the things to make this web site something special. I appreciate all comments. Col
Hi Col, Here is my initial reaction: 1) NEVER use a headline that says 'Welcome to my site' or 'Welcome to BlogPayz!'. You should write a headline with your keywords in it. Basic SEO. 2) I would not justify the text - it makes for awkward-looking spacing. 3) "BlogPayz brings together Advertisers and Bloggers in the one internet advertising web portal." Do you mean 'the only' Internet advertising web portal? "The one" sounds awkward. 4) I checked your source code and wonder if your keywords are wisely chosen. Have you done your keyword research to determine your keywords? 5) I did not read through your entire site, but still notice typos. Here's an example: "BlogPayz will be bringing in new and innovative ways to help both BlogPayz Advertisers and BlogPayz Bloggers succeed in the BlogPays internet advertising venture. Make sure you bookmark this web site to keep and eye on latest developments. Our team are already working on new ideas to bring BlogPayz to the forefront of Article Marketing on a global scale." a) First, "bringing in new and innovative ways. . ." doesn't sound right. Maybe "introducing new and innovative ways. . ."? b) Second, "Make sure you bookmark this WEBSITE to keep AN eye. . . " Website is traditionally one word, and 'and' should be 'an'. c) "Our team are" should read "Our team is". Your FAQ's are nicely laid out and easy to read (I did not read through everything). I like your colors too (I know that's subjective). OK, I hope that wasn't too brutal - you did ask for hard-hitting reviews! And this is my first review on digitalpoint (but far from my first website review!), so I'm not sure how others review. I look forward to seeing other people's feedback. Best Wishes!! ~Stephanie
Stephanie, This is exactly the type of feedback I want to see. Thanks for your time and effort. I really appreciate your brutal honesty and am looking forward to other reviews as well so we can start implementing the things our customers want to see. Col
Usually I'd say that the title needs to be a bit more creative, since it is the first thing a reader will see. However, the advertisers and bloggers boxes attract attention almost instantly, so the necessity for a strong title is decreased. What needs changing is those boxes themselves. After reading them, a visitor should have a sign up button nearby. You are losing conversion points because you don't. think about it. A reader scrolls down and is convinced to join. His options are to either scroll back up and sign up or click on the more details link. None of these alternatives makes sense from an usability standpoint. Regarding the SEO, I'm not sure that Google is the best venue to attract relevant traffic. Of course, high Google SERP's can definitely help, but word of mouth would probably work better. Both the advertiser and blogger communities are very active and they network a lot. A well thought out affiliate program could work wonders. Additional features, such as a forum, could increase the community spirit and while not necessarily bringing new customers, could transform the existing ones into repeat business. Concerning the layout, I strongly prefer websites that don't require scrolling down. The logo and the upper navigation bar could be smaller and thus you could easily achieve a visible at a glance homepage. Otherwise, I really like the site. Hope this helps. Best regards, George
