Are ringtones harder to convert now?

I heard there's a new confirm step for ringtone affiliate programs. Something about the user being prompted with the cost before finishing the confirmation process. Is this true, and if so, what's the conversion difference between the way it used to be and now?

I'm not in the ringtone business but read about the change around the summer time of last year so yes it is true.

the ringtone market has been saturated for a while now but if you can make a catchy landing page you can still make good money.

Right, but is there an extra confirm step now? If so, does the extra step make it harder to convert?

This extra step has been in the rumor mill for 1+ years.
