I cant believe this. Ive bought a hosting and registered a domain with hostican with a domain name that Ive been eyeing since last year. I bought it last feb 10. First problem I encountered with them, the domain took more than 24 hrs to propagate. Ive submitted a ticket and they said I should wait for 24hrs. Then yesterday I check on namecheap if the domain has been registered to me but to my surprise its still available. Today, I check it again, its registered and I was happy but when I visited the url, its now a park domain. I thought to myself why is this parked, Ive installed wordpress on it. Submitted a new ticket to support again, the domain name appears on the subject line I guess cause when I receive a reply its on the subject and I have to fill the domain field when submitting the ticket.. I read their reply and they said " whats is the domain" I was like wt???, cant you see its on the subject.. so I replied again and viola.. This break my heart.

Sorry but this domain was already registered. We apologise that our ordering system accepted it for new registration. Please provide us with new domain that will be registered instead of current.

    When I whois the domain:

    Domain Name: ---
    Created on: 2008-02-12 16:13:47
    Expires on: 2009-02-12 16:13:47

It was created 2 days after I bought it with them.. Is this just a conincidence? :(

    something like this probably occurred.

Don't make the domain public. Keep checking back and see if it is available. DON'T check it with them. Check with a reputable registrar, like Dynadot.

Well the title says he purchased the domain, but the description says it was just purchased > still available > then taken after. Not really sure, but I would've bought the domain at GoDaddy/Dynadot

In regards to registrars buying searched domains that are available, this doesn't only happen at Netsolutions, but also other registrars.

Yup I bought it with HostICan, it was offered for free w/ their hosting. So basically its available and I would not be able to add it if its not. :(

One of the first lessons I learned in the internet business is to never let your host handle your domain. And another suggestion is never buy your hosting from your domain provider. The domain may just be tied up with a taster. If it was a recent drop I would say this is the case. But also keep in mind this is a big world we live in and there may have been more than just your set of eyes on the name.

This is why it is important to use well known registrars. Even if it costs an extra $1

    Sorry you lost your domain.

Even GoDaddy users are facing problems of this sort.
I use GoDaddy for domains I can afford to lose and Moniker for domains that I value a lot.

Thats unfortuante, this is why I only use trusted and well known companies if I can. I hope you manage to get it worked out.
