Trying to compare the Irish Question to the conflict in the middle east is not a valid comparision.

The Arabs want to base peace on exchage of land of peace. Isreal doesn't have enough land. Israel has 8019 sq miles. Ireland in comparision has 68,890 sq km with a population of 4.1 million and Northern Ireland is 5,459 square miles with 1,685,000 people.

The roots of the Irish problem stem from the immigration of Ulster Scot or Scotch-Irish in the 16th century. There is plenty of land and in fact Ireland has negative demographics.

On the other hand as of 2008, Israel's population reached 7.241 million residents. Of this figure, 75.6 percent are Jewish (5.472 million), 20% are Arab (1.449 million) and 4.4% (320,000) are ‘others’

Including the West Bank and Gaza there are approx 5 million Arabs and 5 million Jews.

The Arabs also demand the right of return for 5 million Arabs in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. As a sign of peace why doesn't the Arab governments grant their brothers full citzenship. In fact almost all these refugees werren't even born in Israel. Even the US gives citzenship to illegal aliens born in the US and the Arabs refuse to give citzenship to their brothers.

It's very clear that they do not want peace.

For your history lesson: Israel is the historic homeland of the Jews. In 1910 the population of Jerusalem was 45,000 Jews and 12,000 Arabs.

You think right that the troubles had been caused over sectarianism but the core of that problem is that the boyos (on both sides) are still living in history, dating right back to the 1600's. The Battle of the Boyne is just one example of many and I know a few people that still bark about that battle. Sure same thing with Limerick but these ones living right in the past are serious hardcore about it.

The bog differences between Ireland and Israel is that Ireland has 74 million sq miles of land and less than 6 million people.

Israel has 7 million people and there are 15 million Palestinians claiming its 8 million square miles and a goot portion of that is the Negev desert.

Israel doesn't have land to give for peace.

The Arabs have to do something to assimilate their 5 million Arab brothers that have have three generation born on their soil.

Moreover, although we in Dar al Harb live with the notion of terrorism, the people who live in Dar al Islam often live with the constant threat of real terrorism -- the constant threat of being murdered or raped at any moment.

Earlier this week, my wife was telling me a story from one time she visited Egypt. A mother wasn't watching her six year old daughter on a city bus and a man on the bus molested the girl. Although there were many witnesses to the crime, the man was not convicted because the court felt that, by leaving her six year old daughter unattended, she had created more temptation than the man could reasonably be expected to bear. The court felt that the incident was the mothers fault, not the rapists. The rapist was let go.

Who here has any sympathy for that little girl -- who is now scarred for life. How will she marry in the Muslim world, with her hymen broken and her virginity stolen at age six? Certainly not the Islamists! They do nothing but deny any faults in the system of Islam. They have no sympathy and no care. They have no concern at all for the victims of Islam. They care only about themselves and their own animal needs.

It's only compassionate people like myself, Debunked, GTech, Mia, Lorien1973, Bogart, etc... who want to see a better life for these people.

 

It's interesting you tell this story. This is exactly how many American's react to the War on Terror.. They feel that "we" as a country have some how "created more temptation" for terrorists to hate us...

No one is picking on anyone.. If you feel that you are being picked on, then you probably have some self worth issues, or insecurities. When someone calls the kettle black, it's probably black... No need to gloss over reality with niceties just to save a few feelings..

I think you really need to spend a bit more time here reading posts by those members you feel this way about before you make such an ignorant assessment.

If you found Will's comments insulting, I would suggest seeking some immediate medical attention. That or calm down, step back for a minute, and take everything as a whole into the proper context. Re-read what he said, and then try to keep an open mind. It is not insulting to suggest that hatred is wrong.

It's not tragic, it's sad.. Tragedies generally cannot be prevented.. This could have and still can. Rejecting the teachings that promote and condone this type of behavior is a start.
