Since you ask for PHP, do you want sitemap generation to happen on the server? If you don't care, you can also use a desktop sitemap generator program.

I use www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp, but it always says "not enought memory", what to do ?

I try to use xml-sitemaps.com, but 500 links limit, my website has more than 500 links.

    Please, advise me !

    Thank you.

are sitemaps like robots.txt ? do you need to name them and position them in a certain place for google to pick them up? or is it upload only to google webmaster tools?

There are quite a few on sourceforge. Here is a generic PHP class for generating XML sitemaps -

    sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=215680
