ok. So a couple of sites of mine got accepted in Dmoz

    Yay :D

but, I thought I would do a little investigation and see if all of Dmoz is indexed by Google...

it seems that some deep subcategories are not (some are...just not all ) meaning that Google cannot know about your sites Dmoz link...

because the link has not been indexed in Google.
    heres an example:

Dmoz category not indexed in google (only an example category..some others I found have 40 sites listed in them)

it is not a brand 'new' category, and it doesnt seem to be indexed in Google?
Do you think Google jsut takes a long teim to crawl dmoz? or does it infrequently?

Anyone got any theories or inside information on this phenomenon

or is it just bad luck!!!! to get listed in Dmoz in a category that is not (yet) indexed by Google......

oops/ sorry mods, just seen the odp subcategory...please move this post if required

That category is 7 deep, and Google has a crawl budget based on PR and the perceived importance of a website. Obviously this also applies to DMOZ, which is just further evidence that they don't treat it as a special case.

You can probably extend this crawl budget by linking to your subcategory, although that will of course mean being generous and helping all of your Dmoz-listed competitors to rank.

Also, the "directories" category on Dmoz doesnt have any PR.

    Hmm.

Your right as well ......... ;)

but this doesnt explain why the URL is not indexed in Google does it?......unless....it is so deep that Google considers it unimportant?

Ive noticed no boost at all from the sites SERPS since being placed ...as yet anyway :(
