Hello, i just started a Linux / Webmaster administration forum. The site is http://www.centosforums.org which is primary for the linux distro CentOS. what anchor text should i use? Linux forums which has 11million results or Centos forums which has 500k results in google
i would start with the smaller one first. getting credibility to search engines is a must! always start with the smaller niche...then build yourself with the large ones. use longtail keywords
You can use http://trends.google.com to compare the different keywords and phrases by search volume, this will help pick which keywords are "worth" optimizing for.
I would go with Centos Forums first. You should be able to rank for that in no time. Then aim for the bigger keywords.
I'd actually take "CentOS Linux Forums" myself, but that's just me. It's not only on-topic, but it also has the keywords CentOS and Linux as well, which will help you not only in the short term for ranking with CentOS, but in the long-term when you start targeting Linux as well since you'll have already done the basic work ahead of time.
i dont know. that looks a bit to much. i have started using centos linux forums and ill see how that works. thanks for your help all
Dan and Loredan are right, use Centos Linux Forum, it contains both your keywords and you can on time optimize your forum for both keywords, it also makes sense.
This can also help. Your keywords are both included and AFAIK that would consider as two different keywords because of the separator in between.
I would go with both. Have some links us the first anchor text. and the other links should use the second anchor text. This will keep you links looking more natural to the search engines.
Is it just me or can't you see the actual search volume in numbers? There's no numbers on the y-axis?
