Type of Request : Hosting Site Mascot and Logo Site Name: SiteHoster.Net Prize: $50, Payment via Paypal. End Time: 2/15/08 11:59pm EST Size Requirements : No exact size, but we want something that is scalable and can be used for a variety of applications (banner ads, print materials, stickers, etc.) We would like a version of the logo that incorporates the site name and mascot (whatever it turns out to be), as well as the mascot and logo as standalone images. Please submit original work only, we are not looking for re-worked versions from an existing logo portfolio. Color Requirements : Open to suggestions, but we do not want something that is too flashy. General Requirements : The site will house a shared hosting company. We will be offering standard shared packages as well as one or two green / eco-friendly hosting plans, e-mail management, domain acquisition and sales. After winning design is selected, we will be opening a separate contest for an original site template around the color pallette of the winning logo. All feedback will be made directly in the thread. Thank you, good luck, I look forward to seeing your designs.
Good question. While I hadn't thought about it, I think I would prefer something non-human. Either an animal, or some other abstract living organism. Thanks for the inquiry, I look forward to seeing your work.
Here's a preliminary try. It's a little unfinished, I'm wondering if you'd like me to continue this mascot. Tell me what you think of the colors/style/concept work. More input is better. Also, If you're not interested in more submissions, please tell me.
Thanks for the submission, however it is a bit too "cute" for my tastes. Perhaps something that reflects a bit more strength and professionalism. I am open to suggestions on the colors, but in sticking with the "strength and professionalism" concept, a more muted or earth-tone palette may be more suitable. I would like to see the mascot in conjunction with the logo to get a better feel for how it will tie together. Lastly, and I neglected to mention this in my original requirements, we would like to see the logo with and without the tag line "Simple Hosting for a Complex World." Many thanks for your efforts thus far, and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
UPDATE #1 - 2/11/08 10:21 EST Just one quick addition to our original requirement; We will need a version of the logo both with and without the tag line "Simple Hosting for a Complex World." Thanks to the folks who have contributed thus far, and I look forward to additional participation.
Heres a quick go at a logo/mascot. I was trying to think of an animal thats strong yet shows proffesionalism.. and I thought of the grizzely bear. Yet alot of people are afraid of them, so i decided to go with a grizzely cub. If you like my idea of a bear/cub but want a different/better mascot designed around it, I can try to see what I can do. http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/8863/presentationsh2xv2.jpg http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/9770/presentationsh1bk0.jpg Thank You, Joseph Bray Luna3D Studios
Cykill, I like the quality and originality of the work, but it doesn't project the image I am shooting for. I am looking for something with a more professional corporate feel to it. Also, while very cool, the (slug?) doesn't reflect the speed and stability we hope to provide in delivering our services. I really like the work, so if you can re-tool to better fit with what we are looking for, I would love to see what you put together. Thanks.
12Bravo, please give some suggestions as to what you're looking for. I understand your need and want for a corporate look (good decision), but creating a corporate mascot is not really the norm. Give a few more suggestions and I will see what I can do. Also, is there any chance of a prize increase? $50 seems a little too low to me.
Thanks for the feedback. The $50 prize is fixed for now, but I will consider additional compensation if I get a real banger of a logo. With regard to the mascot, I somewhat agree with your comments, but am still interested in seeing what the creative minds here can produce. Based upon your comments, I will accept logos both with and without a mascot. Notice to all participants: I am hoping for a logo that isn't simply the site name, tag line, and nothing else. I would like to see an original design for a server, rack of servers, or something similar that reflects hosting. Also, please include the tag line "Simple Hosting for a Complex World" We will also be offering a few green / eco-friendly packages, so anything that plays on that theme would also be acceptable. Thanks again, and I look forward to your contribution.
Thank you for your contribution, but I am not terribly fond of the bear concept. I would like to see something a bit cleaner textually speaking, and with a graphic that more represents the hosting nature of our business. As will be offering green / eco-conscious packages along with standard shared hosting, so that is a theme you could play off of if you so chose. Lastly, we would like to see the tag line "Simple Hosting for a Complex World" included in the design. Thanks.
That's great. I really like the other work of yours that I have seen. I am looking forward to your contribution.
Hmm. I will take your idea of making an image/mascot acually based on hostingservers. And maybe even contribute to those green/eco concious packages. Ill see what I can do.
RNH, Very nice work, this is more of what I was looking for. I like the balance, the cube, and the various color combinations. If there is a way you can work the .net into it without throwing off the clean look, that would be a nice touch. Also, any way to include an "S" and an "H" on the cube somehow? Strong entry all around.
Heres my second entry: taking into consideration the stack of servers. If you would like me to design a mascot that looks more like a server rather than 3 stacked boxes then just say so (its vectorized, wont have a problem blowing it up. Personally I think this mascot is something people would remember. I can also create different versions, such as winking, etc, that can be used across the site)
