Paypal will have records of EVERY account change; including your old CC number, name, primary email etc.

    Call them, Explain the situation, and give them they information they need;
They will get your account back.

^ Yeah and they respond quickly. Trust me. I know what i'm talking about. Plus, if there are irregular IPs accessing your account, they would deal with it quickly

I called them yesterday and explained them everything, i proved them that its my account but all info is changed by the stupid hacker, but they said email us with all those details which i mentined them.I don't understand what does that means, any way i emailed them but i got an automatic reply that contact us by going through the top right corner of you paypal account.Thats amazing with this stupid painpal. The customer center sitting there are i think ths most stupid people of this world.
I have proved them each and every point that i am the real owner and ai taked to them about 69 minutes from pakistan, and the call charge me 12dollars, but i don't got any satisfactory answer from them.Really they are painpal customer, i will not be wrong to call them painpal rather then paypal.

^ Something similar has happened to me, but it was not as painful. They responded faster than I expected, and everything went ok. Make sure that you're adamant, don't let them trick you into doing this and that to buy themselves more time.

Some of the customer service at Paypal have no business working there!

But other than entering your data into a phishing email, what are the other known ways this could happen? Hopefully we can all learn how to protect our accounts more.

OP: Hope you get this resolved swiftly!

Since your "saying" paypal is so un helpful do this

Contact your CC company have your CC held, and explain any recent charges may have been from someone other then you.

Contact your bank, tell them you want to block off any paypal withdrawls.

Next, if you do have any pms from the guy saying he hacked you, send em to a mod, kindly ask him for the users IP so you can call his ISP, and call the cops on him for many fun criminal charges. If hes in pakastan, then your shit out of luck.. plane ticket.. go beat his ass.

Same thing w/ me. I never let them force me into doing something else. If I were you, if I did't get a reply within 48 hours, I would call back.

Most importantly, to change the Primary Email/Password/Security Question he would need your bank account number / Credit card informations. How did he got those informations without any reason?

Try to contact Paypal Support Center and inform them about your suspicious problem

It would probably be work your while (once you get your account back) to purchase a digital key generator from the Paypal site. That way even if they can get your username and password to your account they will still need to enter a unique 6 digit code which is generated from a little device on your key chain safely in your pocket. =)

It's the best $7.50 you can spend to protect your account.

Good luck to you. It can be hard with the overseas call centers. Ultimately, the law and their TOS are both on your side so you should come out fine - I hope they can make up for this and fix your account quickly. Fraud is growing online but ultimately, paypal is still the safest and has some of the best protections in the end - although this still happens. good luck to you.

Paypal will ask you for your bank details or credit card details that was attached. Also possilbly address etc. for verification. Call them ASAP and tell them what happened they have logs they can check as well so hope isn't totall y lost. If anything you can maybe get the account limited so that the person who stole it can't do much.
