My blog is moderately popular(854 subscribers in about 3 months), so I get a fair amount of people doing that.
I speak for many when I say I hate that. Especially if the link is not directly related to the post topic. Note that does not mean it's kinda sorta in the same niche. Directly related.
If you're commenting on a blog people like to think it's because you enjoyed the post, not because you want to whore your product/site.
Quite frankly, you're lucky if it only gets moderated out. I know many(including myself when I'm grumpy) who will nail you with an akismet "spam" rating so you won't be able to post anywhere for quite some time.

My blog is my blog. It is not a market place. You're allowed to link your NAME to your site, and by all means, do it.
But do NOT drop a link in the post.

This is my first post in this forum and am very excited about all the information available here.
I am already working on the 'do follow' blog tips.
    Thanks
    Barb.

Definitely not a bad tip at all. At least a lot more original than those "do follow" lists. :)

I must have missed something here, but aren't many of the blogs returned with this query "No-follow"?

Wouldn't it be easier to just do a google search in their blogs seaction? Also, having the "Remember my personal information" and the "Notify me of follow-up comments" doesn't necessarily mean that they have "do follow" enabled. All that does is find you blogs, which the blog search will do as well.
